I went against the grain and voted for the Pitt guy. Only the casual fan doesn't know the other three are getting kudos.

A better way ESPN could have asked the question is simply: Who of the following is the best quarterback? My vote would have went to Jacobs, followed by Z, Grad, with Palko last.
I just want to say that I am completely utterly and totally addicted to the map of the poll results.

That's just freakin' cool.

I don't agree with Zabransky (sp?). I would have listed him last if it was about best player.

Here are his stats from last season:

2927 yards passing with 16 TD's and 12 INT's (16:12 TD/INT ratio)
Completed 63% of his passes which is pretty good
Sacked 28 times
326 yards rushing (2.5 ypc average)

That is fascinating...
I never noticed the map feature...too cool! It's interesting to see how many people have voted from each state. Idaho is firmly behind their guy...he's received 90% of the vote.

Hey, no fair doing some actual research before making an opinion! 03-lol
Limiting our evaluation to the MAC, after the big 3 QBs is there one who is underrated and can make a move up the ladder ?

Excluding the big three, I am interested to see how Machen does at Kent. It's hard to rate him as he has not played at this level yet. At 6'6" 240, it could be interesting. Especially in taking over for Cribbs. As of this date, it's the big three, then everyone else. I don't really know the other MAC QB's. They seem to be shorter on experience. I'm also interested in seeing who takes over at Akron. That will be a tall order as well.
BETTS IS UNDERRATED! Sorry, had to blurt it out. He gets very little love. Plus his little bro goes to OhioU, and roots against him.

Zabransky also ran for 13TD's and averaged over 4 yards/carry (if you take sacks out of it)...so I think he probably should get a bit more respect. Also consider that these were his numbers last year as a new starter. He figures to be a more effective passer this year.

The funny part about that poll is that I disagree that Jacobs is underrated. He's top 5 on virtually every national list of top quarterbacks in the preseason magazines and websites. I am a big Canes fan (family allegiance), so I spend a good amount of time on theirs and FSU's message boards. There are tons of people on there that think Coker and Bowden should both face the firing squad for letting Omar Jacobs out of the state of Florida. The secret is definitely out about Jacobs...it will be interesting to see if he lives up to the hype.

I voted for Bruce because he actually is "underrated."

With all due respect, if you take out the sacks many QB's have much better YPC averages. His 28 sacks show a lack of ability to scramble out of the pocket very well.

Yeah I'll give you that...I seem to remember he got sacked like 6 or 7 times against BYU last year. Still though, with a good O Line coming back and a year of experience with Hawkins' crazy system, he should be scary this year. That game against BG could go well over 100 total points
