It's fitting Kedzman that you and your Arian beliefs lean toward the Cubs. While the White Sox fan base is more like a melting pot of society, with the exception of the people who's neighborhood butts up against Wrigley Field. :rolltide:
Kedz and Alum are both Cubs fans. This is very unfortunate as they give Cub fans a bad name. 03-razz

Since there are a total of about 50,000 White Sox fans it should have no impact on the NIU game.

And of those 50,000, about 150 actually went to college.
How bout them Cincinnati Redlegs! I'll be in attendance, heck, I'm coming in from South Carolina for it! Gotta watch the Hawks roll the Huskies. 03-wink

Chicago Wins World Series is like a joke. You hope it'll happen, but know it ain't gonna. Just Kidding! I don't care who wins, as long as it isn't the Indians, Red Sox, Yanks or Cardinals.

You guys are brutal !!

You should also be supporting the white sox, chicago needs a championship in baseball.
Sox fans I know are the most judgemental sports fans in the world, which is funny considering what front runners they are.
Its funny that Huskie fans, (who have had trouble filling our tiny football stadium over the years) would have smart ****** comments about White Sox attendence. I am a White Sox fan and the fact that I am in the minority in Chicago has never bothered me.

Cub fans to me are kind of like Illini fans. Illinois grads act like they went to Harvard, Cub fans act like the "Cubbie's" have the history of the Yankees.

I will be at the Huskie game on Oct. 5th with a hand held TV to watch the Sox!

I'm not a Cubs nor a Sox fan, but at least Sox fans care if their team wins, and know the game. All Cubs fans care about is beer and if Sammy hits a HR. Think most Cubs fans even know Sammy is gone?

Cubs fans are lemmings, they'll go no matter how crappy the product is on the field, which will never force management to try and do things to get players who will make them winners. No need to with so fans flocking blindly to their games.
i want to go to the sox game more and more the way you guys talk ******

Nice broad brush stroke there. I am a Cub fan. I don't go to many games but catch as many as I can on tv(hard out here in Ct when all I get are Boston, yankees and the Mets with an occasional White Sox or Cub game). When I go to games, I very rarely drink because I very rarely ever drink. I know very much how the game is played. I know that Sosa is gone(finally the Cubs did something right). I don't hate the Sox, I follow them casually and hope they do well but I grew up watching the Cubs(partly because my dad is a Cub fan and always watched or listened).

Enjoy the game. Hope they win. I could care less if someone goes to a Cub or Sox game over an NIU game. If you bought season tickets, you will be counted. If you didn't, your seat will likely be filled with someone else who is willing to pay to watch the Huskies in what may be one of the best games of the year.

So, what you're saying is that Cubs fans are idiots because they financially support their team and aren't fickle enough to need to see .650 ball for 4 months before fully getting behind their team 100%?

Can you take pride in how stingy you are about supporting your team, including being extraordinarily skeptical about excellent starts?
If supporting your team means putting on my floppy hat and sunglasses, sitting in the bleachers, getting drunk, trying to hit on girls who have no idea what is going on during the game, calling your buddies on your cell phone, leaving the game only to urinate on the neighbor's lawns, hopping in a cab and passing out only to be dumped off in your front yard; then yes, I'll be the skeptical baseball-knowledged Sox fan anyday!

Cub fans maybe loved by the masses outside of this city, but for those who truly love the game and what it stands for, Cub fans are an EMBARRASSMENT to the game for what goes on at that ballpark, which should be treated with a little more respect. That's why I like to call the place McWrigley's Tap!

You support your team in hopes the team will turn around and spend the money to improve their team (at least that's a true fan would hope for). Instead, your money goes right into the Tribune's pocket, and little is spent on free agents. So, if you want to keep feeding the Tribune money when they know they do not need to bother putting a winner on the field for their lemming fans to continue to support them, go right ahead. As I said, I am not a Sox or a Cubs fan. Been a lifelong Yankees fan (dad grew up 6 blocks from Yankees Stadium). While I don't like they was baseball is now with only large market teams have a realistic shot at winning a championship, I do like how Steinbrenner at least always tries to improve the Yankee's chances of winning. He gets money from his cable station, and spends it on players. Tribunes gets money from their super station, and pockets it.

That argument I can agree with. But Steinbrenner is a capitalist, and he knows that his fans need stars to come out to the ballpark, so he supplies them. The Cubs know that their atmosphere is their draw. I will say that they have taken more chances on trades and free agents in recent years.

I'm not a Cubs fan or a Sox fan, I just think the righteous indignation of Sox fans is laughable, considering how often they stay away from US Comiskular and how skeptical they are about buying into their team's success. Sox fans aren't great baseball fans, they're just truer fans of *their* team than the tourists that want to soak in the Wrigley Field atmosphere. That doesn't make Cubs fans idiots, it makes their stadium and neighborhood a great draw. Sorry, your real estate is crap compared to the North Siders. 03-lol

And exactly what percentage of Cubs fans do this every game?

Sheesh, you talk like baseball fans in any city don't get drunk, hit on chicks they have no chance with and talk on cell phones.
HuskieDan Wrote:Sorry, your real estate is crap compared to the North Siders. 03-lol
Well, at least they finally tore down the projects which could have been used(and I think have been used) as a spot for snipers to sit to shoot at people in the stands or at the park in general. 03-lol

:biggun: :cop:
What about the cast of characters that borders Wrigley Field. I'm sure that you are familiar with those establishments!
:tasha: :rolltide:
I don't really want to get into this argument, but I go to about 20 Cubs games a year (partial season ticket holder since 1985) and my impression is most of the fans watch the game. At least 25% keep score. (OK, they took the names off the home uniforms and doubled the scorecard price, so call me a cynic.)

Check out the crowd during tense moments (rare, but they do occur). They stand, make a lot of noise and clearly know what's happening on the field. I don't buy into that stereotype Cub fan thing.
As I said, Cubs fans are lemmings, so you have about 100 knowledgable fans who know when to stand up and make noise during important parts of the game, and the other 38,900 fans follow suit like good lemmings should 03-wink

They are CHEAP too. They all wait to go on the 1/2 price Monday's!
