Dec 30th 2005 7pm ESPN 2 Ohio vs Kentucky at US Bank Arena in Cincinnati.
We all know it would never happen, but it would have been great to have this game at the Convo.

It did happen once - 97 or 98. Unfortunately, we picked the same year to have the worst Bobcat team in history (5-22ish), and the blue cats waxed the green cats in a sold out Convo.
That game happened and was scheduled because Rick Pitino was true to his word.

I have respect for him and Kentucky for scheduling that game.

Too bad it was the worst team in Bobcat history.
We almost beat UK in Dec 1994. We played UK in Rupp a couple days after our Preseason NIT victory over New Mexico State that year. Bobcats were on a roll. It was UK's home opener that year and UK was rusty. Bobcats were down 2 with less than 30 seconds to play. We were ranked like 14th in the AP going into that game and UK was #3 I think. UK fans learned that night that the MAC is a whole lot better than the Tenn-Martin's that UK usually opens up with. Ball State played UK very well last year for about a half. I thought they had UK, but UK regrouped and played a very strong second half. These games in Cincinnati are a good game for both UK and the MAC. A nuetral court setting which lets people in Northern Ky to see UK once a year. I bet Rupp is sold out all the time. UK has a lot of fans in Southern Ohio, so I think they treat their alumni and fans really well. UK is like Duke. Their teams are either very good or great. UK expects to be top 10 and reach the final four every year. No such thing as a rebuilding year for them. UK has some shoes to fill, but they won't use that as an excuse. A win over UK is like Miami beating Ohio State in football or NIU beating Michigan. Every fan, coach and player in the nation will know that you pulled the upset of the year. Remember Santa Clara beat North Carolina last year. I don't know if Santa Clara even made the NIT, but they did beat the National Champs.
