I would play Omar both ways! We could line him up at middle or outside linebacker, or maybe even strong safety. I think he is in great shape to be able to do that!!! All kidding aside, I think our rush defense is helpless, unless we make some drastic changes with our schemes. I don't know enough about defense to know what works.

Dammit Oddball! You took mine!
As big as fan as I am of MAC teams, I still didnt expect BG to win this games, the outcome was close to what I thought was going to happen...Camp Randall is a tough tough place to play, Wisconsin always runs the ball well so I dont feel to let down by this...I was more let down by EMU and CMU as I felt they shouldve won those games and they were the only MAC teams I bet to win....(besides Toledo vs W ILL) .....this week I'm taking:

TOl over WMU 38-19
BGSU over BALL ST 56-17
MIA over CMU 35-21
EMU over LA LAF 41-32
Purdue over Akron 48-22
Pitt over Ohio 28-20
SYRA over BUFFALO 27-8
Kent St over SE MO ST 36-21
and my upset pick
NIU over NW by 3 pts or less 41-38

Upset?

What has Northwestern done to deserve any respect at all? I think NIU will beat the snot out of them.

It is an "upset" because the line is NW by 3.
Hire this woman as a motivational tackling consultant:

I can hear her now: Brady Hoke is the devil!
How to improve BGSU's defense:

Stop scheduling big, punishing opponents....

Seriously, Wisconsin is always a huge team - they'll look better just from playing anyone else.
NIU winning at NW would be an upset, more of a minor one but NW can move the ball around well, if they dont turn the ball over like NIU did at UM, they will win.....believe me, I want NIU to win!!! as well as all MAC schools, cept Toledo cuz my brother is a Bronco.....
Just like the rest of the MAC,the Conference is weak at the defensive tackle position. To be able to play with the big boys, your DT's need to be at least 6'2" 290 with some speed. The 260-270 lbs DL don't cut it.
Rotate through the DL. Instead of getting worn down, wear down your opponents OL by having fresher players the whole game.

Teach tackling. Weak arm tackles will let a team score 56 pts in 3 qtrs. For the record, UCG didn't look any better last nite.

Better play calling. I repeatedly saw defenders coming from the backside of the play. They typically arrived too late and just chased after Calhoun. That's a lot of exertion for zero results.

Recruit smarter. I saw no stunts or anything interesting on the defensive play calling.

Interesting that you say that.

Last winter someone posted that ISU kept getting their runners to the outside of Miami (IN)'s line, where they'd pick up big yardage. The same thing happened for Memphis against BG.

Obviously, MAC teams' opinion on what makes a good DT isn't getting it done.

Or the teams put all their better athletes on O. That's one danger when you run a lot of 5 WR sets - you need a LOT of WRs.
If I was BGSU, I would have made some half-time adjustments. I would have put 9 guys in the box and forced Stocco to beat me. (He only threw 10 passes and 1 of those was intercepted.) The other thing I would have done is force the ends/corners to not let anything get outside because UW had a lot more speed and their RB was getting 8 yds. downfield before even getting touched.

With their back-to-back bye weeks (Ball State/bye), they should have time to prepare for for Boise St. They need to be prepared because I wouldn't count on Zabransky playing like he did against Georgia.

Yeah, but he wasn't always going around end to pick up those huge gains. There were plenty of missed tackles in the backfield and at the LoS, and he was able to gain by running just up the middle.
