I am curious. Let's say that you can't name the head coach of your favorite team here. Which coach in the MAC do you respect the most?
I am going with Joe Novak. He seems like a really good guy and his players seem to like him. He has brought that team up from the depths of despair. I also feel bad for him having never made it to a MAC Championship game...yet. Also, his players seem to be very disciplined and I believe they have a decent academic standing overall.

I will second that.

cheater
I'll probably second that(or third if we count HMM)
Since I can't go with Novak, being an NIU guy, I'll have to say Amstutz.
Sustained success with a clean program and a coach who is loyal to his program and community.
So basically its the next best thing to Novak.
The one wearing the ring, Amstutz.
I also vote for Joe Novak.
Also have to give the NIU administration props for sticking with him through the lean years.
FWIW- I loved the line by Bo S. during the Michigan game when asked about Joe when he was a defensive end for Bo at Miami.
To paraphrase Bo, he supposedly told Novak years later, "Joe, of all the defensive ends I coached through the years........................................... your were by far the slowest! :D
Frank Solich. He took a job here in the MAC for a long time losing program. He gave Ohio a chance after passing on other programs. I respect him for tying to make a difference. If he wins at Ohio, people will give him the credit he should have got at Nebraska. He needs a lot better players than what Knorr left. Ohio needs to rebuild the o-line and get a lot more speed on both sides of the ball.

1. read the rules
2. he hasn't even coached against a MAC team yet.
3. read the rules

Novak.
Amstutz...although I an one of those who wishes he would watch his weight for his own health.
Novak is worthy of consideration. I think Solich has the jury still out. He has shown nothing as a MAC coach yet, same as Montgomery. Ask this question again at the end of the year.
Novak, NIU is simply a class act!
I know that you are not allowed to choice your own team, but no one picking JD Brookhart surprises me. In his first year he was the MAC Coach of the Year and brought in the top recruiting class in the MAC(based on recruiting services picks). I honestly feel that JD is going to be a top pick for more people as he continues to build the team here.
I am going to pick CMU's coach Kelly. He has their team playing better since his arrival. I will give alot of respect to Novak and Amstutz. The deserve praise for consistent play at the top of the conference, but I think CMU is going to continue to move up quickly in the conference.
Toledo Tom , with Joe a close 2nd ..
Glad to see the "no homers" rule, but as expected OUBobcatJohn broke the rules! That's very Kit-Cat of you John! Read the rules!
My pick is Charlie Coles @ Miami. Oh wait. Football?
Novak is the man in my book. NIU could have easily axed him when his teams sucked and he built that program from the bottom of Division I-A (and up from I-AA). Plus he's a MAC alumnus as a Miami Alum.
Close second place to Amstutz for the titles and the recognition he has brought to Toledo.

I almost posted that.
