Nick's Picks for Week #2 are now live on VanDelaySports.com! Take a look and feel free to comment as Nick has one major MAC team upsetting a BCS opponent and another coming close!

I sure hope Nick is wrong with the Northwestern game.
Nick:

I'll be happy if the MAC can achieve two wins against DIA OCC and estatic if they can pull out three.

Our best chances:

1) EMU over ULaLa
2) NIU over NW
3) OU over Pitt
nice write-up but one thing to point out. Richard Davis actually had 111 yards, not 11 for Toledo.
I hope we upset UT (obviously), but the write-up and prediction seem reasonable.

We have a very tough time finding a win in the Glass Bowl, even during our good years.

Error fixed. Probably my fault in copying into the Web format.
Bobcats may need more time to get the offense going. Everson got better in the second half vs Northwestern. This is the first year that he is the starter. He will be the starter all season baring injury. Ohio will be a better team in November than September. It was ugly for Ohio. Muncy has 17 tackles at linebacker for Ohio. Ohio's offense needs to give the defense a rest and move the ball on Friday. If Ohio doesn't get a running game going, its gonna be another long game for Ohio. Pitt is explosive on offense and is more physical than NW. Ohio can't make mistakes like the two fumbles and numerous penalties that ignited the second quarter meltdown in Evanston. Ohio's defense needs to get some picks. Pitt will double cover Mayle. He blew past NW cornerbacks all day long. Everson needs to hit Mayle when he breaks free with his MAC best 4.3 speed. Mayle is Ohio home run threat. He is on his way to a big year baring injuries.
I agree that the Bobcats will get better as the year goes on. Nick's pick of Ohio over Pitt didn't surprise me at all, but I would not have made that pick myself. The upset of a BCS team that we will definitely see is Northern Illinois over Northwestern in a nail-biter if you ask me. That having been said I'd LOVE to see both NIU and OHIO pull off upsets and make us all feel a little better after last weekend. But I will not be discouraged if the bobcats lose as patience with this team is a must for Ohio fans.

Hey Nick, why do you need to put the cookies on our computers? I’ll visit your site again when you get rid of your need to put cookies on my computer.
Like the new site. Always enjoy the picks. Need to fix what conference Ball State is in.
I'm responsible for the cookies b/c we started using ad companies to make a little bit of money from the site. Nick's been doing this since the 1990's and not making any $$$ for all of the great MAC coverage so I felt it was worth it for him to make a little (and I mean a little) bit off the site.

The truth about so-called "SpyWare."
I attended a conference about WebTrends, the industry leader in Web Statistics and Analytics and have over 4 years of experience with Web stats. These ad companies aren't placing cookies that are going to cause you harm as many may believe. They're also not going to slow you're computer down just b/c you went to one site or another. The purpose is to know more about the customer so that you do not get the same ad every time you come back or so that the ads you see are targeted a bit to the region you are in. Outside of that there's nothing to worry about. It's purely Marketing.

That having been said, I do feel it is a good practice to clean off my computer of so-called "SpyWare" every month or so just to make sure that all of the cookies do not build up. It takes hundreds and thousands of these things to slow your cpu down. Now just a couple here or there.
NIU has to beat NU this week. This game will determine the best team in Illinois, UofIllness isn't in the running, and wont be for at least a couple years. We have been bragging about being the best team in the state and now its time to prove it. If we lose it will be a major step back for the program. After sitting in the big house and then replaying the game at least a dozen times I think NIU has a great chance for a victory. As long as we hold onto the ball then we should pull it off.
I really hope Ohio beats Pitt. Glad to see Pitt get destroyed by ND last week. Being a Bears fan you can't help but to root against Wanny. Pitt might be too strong for Ohio and I am sure they are really pissed off right now after ND and I fear Ohio will pay.
EMU should win their game. We need to improve our OOC records and this is the week to do it.

Boy, it's a good thing the Leathernecks aren't on the schedule this year then, huh?

Your bragging rights might have been flushed down the toilet.
Southern Illinois would give the MAC, Northwestern, and Illinois fits this year. They are in the Top 5 of Div 1-AA, and I'm definitely not overlooking our home opener with them.

WIU is down this year. The team to watch out for is SIU, those boys can play. They didn't drop off from last year at all and might be even better. The top three teams are definitely NIU, NU, and SIU in no particular order, then Illinois and WIU are in that second tier. At least NIU plays NU this year so we can determine it on the field. This might be the last time we play another I-A Illinois school for a long time.
I agree with most of his picks except with Ohio beating Pitt. No way Pitt loses to a mid level MAC team after getting crushed by Notre Dame. I think BG will score more than the 49 predicted by Nick, They may score 70 easily.

As for Toledo and WMU. I just hope we get 25,000 for the game. We should win but attendance could really suck for this game.
Attendance is something that ALL of us need to improve this season and going forward. We say we want respect for the MAC yet we can't get more than 15,000-20,000 fans at all of our school's games? I know the Bobcats expect a sell-out or close to it tonight; I certainly hope that we do indeed sell Peden Stadium out for the game! I can't wait to leave work and head to the game!
Looks like Nick went 9-1 with his picks this week. Only Miami's loss to CMU kept him from a perfect week #2...

No apology will be forthcoming. :D
None expected. That's a big win for you guys and I am happy for you. I just wish it didn't have to come against another MAC school this early in the season, but it may help my Bobcats in the standings...
