Folks on the Conference USA board are ragging on the expansion. But they don't understand the Bracket Buster is NOT A TOURNAMENT, but rather a set of OOC games. And the more teams you have, the better job ESPN can do in selecting the best matchups for national television. Doh!!
The Bracket Buster sucks. It's first year it was a great idea, but now with 100 teams it does nothing for most teams.
=>Miami is home for the 3rd straight year.

Does home or away matter much?

The game will be made up the next fall at the other team's place.

And this -- incidentally, is why I think bracket buster is good. It produces nice home and homes. That's good for the MAC.

Within two years, most of 'em will want in on it.

Those folks don't seem to understand that, when it comes to CUSA basketball, the circus left town over the summer.

Kent State home for the 4th straight year.
And yes, it does make a difference when that game is on ESPN 1 or 2 and the return game is buried in the Nov.-Dec part of the next year
schedule. It's been a great showcase for us each year to get some national publicity and a great team to come visit. Great for the student fans, the team, the university.
The expansion is simply to allow ESPN to have a choice of the best available teams to put on. Beyond those 6 or so games, it really doesn't mean much. It's true the other 45 or so games will be meaningless, but the payoff for the better teams is a good one.

I disagree here. Since this is a single day event, the pride of conferences is on the line. It also gives leagues one last chance to enhance their RPIs.

And that's the concept so many posters seem unable to grasp.
