Nice fans. They only get 35,748 on HALF PRICE NIGHT with the Cleveland Indians in town.

They are 7th in attendance in the American League and 17th in all of baseball.

They owned the best record in baseball for more than 50% of the season, and the best in the AL for virtually all year.

What a joke!!!

Here's to the biggest CHOKE in the history of baseball - if not all sports! :tomato:

Something we can agree on - watching the Sox blow this lead has been and will continue to be a laugh riot! 03-lol

There we go Dan - I knew we had common ground somewhere! :)
Ahem!

There are 13 games to go.

The Sox have not blown the lead, they are still in 1st place with a 2.5 game lead.

11 games Sox win/Cleveland lose to clinch the division.

10 games Sox win Yankees lose to clinch the wild card. Either way, post season.

Only if they lose all of their games and finish in 3rd place will they be out. Don't gloat yet.

All I have to say to Cubs fans is...5 outs away from the World Series. At least that was more crushing....

The Yankees are a half game behind the Indians in the wild card, so if you choke against the Indians you better hope that either the Yankees or the Red Sox also fall apart.
This entire board has been a joke lately.
please stop this thread. I am a cubs fan.

To steal a line from Flounder in Animal House "Boy is this GREAT!"

I am sure it won't be stopped and I will enjoy reading all the sox bashing.

What is the over/under on number of posts.
Let's shut this thread down immediately. I am in no mood to discuss the sorry state of the White Sox. I respect all of you as Huskies fans, and I understand that some of you are also Cubs fans, and I am willing to accept that as well. However, I don't want to read about this White Sox crap on this board...I came on the board this morning to get away from my misery...Unlike some people, I took no joy in the Cubs collapse of 2003...and even if I did I don't think I would brag about it on the NIU board.

The fact is the White Sox are not very good right now, and I can not bear to watch that crap they've been putting out there since the all star break... and with the history of Chicago sports, I believe it would defy the odds if the Sox did make the playoffs.

GO Sox!!!

359 - I am sorry you are in misery and were one of the few WS fans who didn't gloat about the Cubs collapse.

Unfortunaly numerous Sox fans where a huge pain in the butt - and revenge is SWEET!!!

Have to run - I hear a White Sox fan choking!

The sox are still up on the indians 2-1/2 games. Sure they blew the 15 game lead, but there are still 2 games in this series (and 5 more in the season). You guys are counting your chickens before they hatch. Tsk tsk..... 05-nono

And what ray of hope are you basing this on. Cleveland is hot. NY Yankees are playing Baltimore. The sox are cold.

??????????
Also, what you neglect to mention is that the Indians have been playing the best baseball since august of all the AL teams, if not the entire MLB. So it really is a combination of 1 team playing less than mediocre and 1 team rising up to the occasion.

It was flipflopped in the early season, and all we heard about is how great the Sox are and how Ozzie is the best manager in baseball. Things even out, and the Indians were crap early and they're evening it out......potentially to finish better than the Sox.
Its not even that the Sox have been less than mediocre- Gammons made the point last night that the Sox have been playing about .500 (I think now 2 under) during the same stretch that Cleveland has been playing out of their minds. The last couple weeks have been brutal but longer term basically the Sox have been maintaining while the Indians have been on a different planet.

I personally can't decide whether the story here is about an implosion by the Sox or how insanely hot the Indians. If it weren't for the last couple weeks, I'd be leaning more toward the latter.

The Sox were insanely hot at the beginning of the season, and that kind of pace simply can't last. The Sox are plateauing, while the Indians are putting it together.

yeah, if the sox were playing .500 (or a couple games around it), then this is really a result of the Indians playing super hot.

I don't mind the sox, i just really hate most of their fans.
Do you think any dope poster would make a comment just to keep a topic at the top of the list?

I sure hope not!

I think this Sox plummet has a lot to do with their "mullet night" they had a few weeks back. Visit http://www.mulletsgalore.com to learn more about the mullet species...

It was an attempt by White Sox management to divert attention away from the fact that EVERY night at Sox park is mullet night. This was mgts. way of poking fun at ignorant mullet hair cut people (who are largely sox fans) to create the illustion that Sox fans are not the dirt bags we all perceive them to be. The result was a confusing carma that has put the Sox into a major tailspin.

Perhaps they could have "cigarette smoking, Camaro driving, black acid wash jeans night".
But you see, that would further confuse the White Sox carma.

To reverse this funk, perhaps they could have "European import car/college degree night". Just a suggestion.
