Miami will play at Syracuse next year to round out our non-con schedule which includes: @ Purdue, @ Syracuse , @ UC and home vs. Northwestern. Then, Syracuses comes to Oxford in 2007 to play us in addition to us playing UC at home and @ Minnesota. (which is a 2 fer 1 deal).

Nice to see a "one fer one" deal here....good job by our AD Brad Bates.
Great pickup! Miami and Toledo have both announced home and home deals with BCS schools in the last few weeks. This is great for the MAC! Now we need some more MAC schools to get these kind of deals.
and beat them down while you have them there at your place ..
Great job by the Miami AD. Your 2006 schedule is great.
Great news, congratulations to AD Brad Bates, for this scheduling upgrade! Better home OCC scheduling combined with Stadium upgrades, should equal better season ticket sales, and better home attendance. Just maybe, with a more comprehensive marketing effort, Miami can get attendance up to were it should be at the 25,000 level that occured during "Big Ben's" banner final season. The Miami stadium is developing into one of the best in the MAC, and the attendance should grow, and if it doesn't something is really wrong.
Looks like Ohio has a good possibility of doing the same...

Apparently it depends upon whether East Carolina backs out of its contract for 2006 (article referenced at BobcatAttack hints this is likely).

Interesting comment from Syracuse Associate AD Jackson...

Quote:"We're going to be a young team," Jackson said of the 2006 Orange. "It's Greg's first full year here. You see what the Mid-America is doing. They're up and coming. I feel good about having them. They're competitive teams, both of them. We have a nice balance of BCS and non-BCS schools."
Nice deal for Miami! 04-rock
Great deal, and I love that OOC schedule. A few more of us get that kind of schedule, and win a little more often, and the national perception of the MAC jumps.
Why oh why can't we get anybody to play us at home? 03-banghead :crying: 04-drinky

I guess, we did pick up SIU for a game next year.

Oops, I almost forgot. Congrats to Miami. Looks like you are going to have a tough shedule.
Syracuse is a lot like Pitt. A big name school, but not a consistent top 25 team either. They won't have the kind of talent like Va Tech does and can be beaten if you play well.
