#4 Zips Men's Soccer Downs Ohio State, 3-0
More than 2,000 fans on hand as Akron improves to 9-0-0 on the season

Sept. 30, 2005

AKRON, Ohio -- - Junior forward Sinisa Ubiparipovic (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor/Illinois Chicago) gave Akron a 1-0 lead just 12 minutes into the match, and it turned out to be all the Zips would need as fourth-ranked Akron (9-0-0) shut out Ohio State (5-3-1), 3-0 Friday night in front of a crowd of 2,319 at Lee Jackson Field.

Way to go Zips! Way to take out those Buckeyes! Gotta take your victories where you can get em. 04-bow

Okay, time to go to sleep now. Oh that's right I can't. Go Zips! (You ******, beating us on the freakin' football field....didn't see the game, but must be a pretty good QB you got. And I thought we escaped when Frye gradgeeated).
I was at the game last night. It is great to see over 2,000 fans at a soccer match going crazy rooting against Zero State. The Zips look strong in soccer right now and have taken over the number 1 regional rankings from Indiana University.

GO ZIPS!!!
Our goalie - a FRESHMAN - stops almost everything. He's unbelievable.
I'm not an avid soccer fan, but doesn't a 3-0 score usually indicate a dominant performance?

Looking at Akron's remaining schedule, it is certainly possible the Zips could be undefeated going into their regular season finale at highly regarded Indiana.

Unless the Zips fold, it looks like they will get the home field for the NCAA playoffs. Akron fans can legitimately dream about a National Championship this year.
Don't overlook UB's soccer team this year...we don't play quite the same quality schedule, but we're 9-1 right now, ranked 3rd in NY state, behind 2 nationally ranked teams. UB plays Akron at home next friday night, and its a matchup of far and away the 2 best teams in the MAC (only 5 teams but still).

They actually have a ranking of D-1 soccer teams in New York??? How many are there?

Indiana/Purdue-Fort Wayne is in the league effective immediately, according to the news release. It sounds weird, but I would think the Mastadons are eligible for a league title right now.
