This should have been done years ago. Enough with the FBS and FCS divisions. There needs to be 3 categories for division 1 or just redo the whole structure of the NCAA. Schools in the G5 should not have to have the same budgets/scholarships as the P5 schools.
It also mentions the possibility of one large conference with divisions. I like that idea as an option too.

Well, there's no question these discussions should be had, for the sake of being proactive if nothing else. This may not be possible, but the idea of a G5 playoff while keeping the essentially guaranteed spot the G5 has in the new CFP sounds ideal.

I am in favor of having the G5 champions reach a playoff, preferably in the CFP, but that isn't going to happen so it seems we need to make our own. If the G5 seperate from the FBS then does the dollar amount in payday games decrease similar to how FCS is done. If so, then choosing to seperate is a non-starter.

I thought they expanded the playoff which locks in at least one G5 team? Why would you say no to that!

If they want playoff w/ the 'best of the rest G5' then good. If at least one G5 team isn't locked in, I've grown more open to it over time, especially if bowls ever go away.

Money. The G5 schools are getting less in the new setup than they did in the old setup.

Pretty sure FCS football is just lumped in with every other NCAA championship that ESPN picked up in January. I'm not convinced there will be any money in a G5 playoff.

New CFP guarantees the two driving conferences $22m per school, while ACC and Big12 get $12m per school. The G5 scrap is projected at $1.8m.

If they decide there’s more money in their own playoff, it will eventually dry up. Offer an amount to lure us then they’ll take it away or eventually there won’t be money in it. Best stay status quo.

But FCS & other lower levels work so maybe not. If you go to your own playoff, you might as well merge w/ FCS.

Oh yay, so we will get our wish of moving down to D-1AA? This is loser thinking.
I have lost my desire to fight this mindset any longer. Colleges are either dying or thriving.
