Board has been in executive session for essentially 5 hours today...my guess is an interim will be announced today or tomorrow.

Unless they rush to The Registry (placement firm for senior executive college administrative intern positions) which is how Postel and previous Provost were found...UT is going to end up very likely with the worst possible internal candidate.
And I get people like to blame Presidents (Postel, Gaber etc..) plus Provost (several in last decade) or VP Enrollment (several in last decade) for all the recent and current challenges of budget and enrollment....but its about time people starting looking at the leadership direction and actions at the very top of UT over the last decade, and especially last few years, for the roots of indecision, changing priorities, lack of focused strategy for direction of UT, failure to focus on fund raising---ultimately all of that - plus frequent turnover in leadership - falls directly on the Board who are failing the institution, community and State of Ohio in its mismanagement of UT

RE: Dr. Postel is Out
BG seems to always get a lot of kids from west of Cleveland - Lorain, Sandusky, Elyria. I worked with a lot of BG grads in public accounting. All were from the areas I just noted. The other firms also had BG grads from the Cleveland and west of Cleveland area. Pretty much all the Toledo grads were from the Toledo area. Also had OSU and a few Michigan grads and some smaller schools like Heidelburg, Defiance, etc. I thought it was kind of weird that all the BG grads we hired were from near Cleveland.

How many individuals are on the Board at UT? Who are they?

RE: Dr. Postel is Out
My concern with BOT is that less than a year ago (June 2023) UT had an apparent agreed upon future direction by the Board with annual review and endorsement of the President, Provost under contract, approval of updated Strategic Plan, work towards a since approved updated Facilities Master Plan, and process underway to select a new Provost...but in last few months is seems like most of those wheels have fallen off due to shifts and lack of direction by the Board..leaving to a very unclear direction going forward at time when three highest positions at UT responsible for academic and enrollment are not filled with permanent replacement at very critical time for UT and higher education. Makes one wonder how the local community leaders, and those in state government view the uncertain and unclear future for UT. BOT indecision is increasingly hurting path forward for the institution and creating very bad image of UT in Toledo area and State of Ohio. Who is going to hold them accountable for their meddling and inability to stay on focus?

Quote:Outgoing University of Toledo President Dr. Gregory Postel will be paid $1.35 million annually in his new positions at the University of Cincinnati.
He has an annual salary of $541,216 at UT.
Dr. Postel was offered the positions of senior vice president for health affairs and dean of the College of Medicine for UC last Friday, and signed the offer Sunday. He announced his departure to his senior staff Tuesday morning.
He will remain at UT until October. His contract with UC requires he start his new positions by Oct. 30. His contract at UC expires Oct. 31, 2029.
UC Health runs revenues roughly three times UC's...it's not shocking when you consider that.

Oh I get that.guessing its because he is holding two positions (as previous VP Health Affairs made under $500,000)

There has been a lot of personnel change over the last five years, I would say too much. This announcement has me a little worried. Leaving a Presidential position for a Senior Medical position at an in state school doesn’t look great for UT. Even if Postel’s background is mostly in the medical field.
It is CRITICAL that UT does everything in their power to keep Bryan Blair during this crazy transition period. We can’t afford to lose our President and AD during the same time period. The board of directors need to move quickly to find a top leader before our troubles continue.
What about someone like Clint Longenecker?
Have you been posting on LinkedIn again Rick? He does have friends on the board, but that would be a pretty tough sell given how scorched the earth was when he left the College of Business. I'm expecting the interim to be someone in the current finance department...
Tried to drop a hint...
