RE: 2024 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament Thread
ESPN has to be thrilled with how the Sweet 16 is shaking out.
South Carolina/Indiana Albany 1
Iowa/UCLA/LSU Albany 2
Stanford/UConn/Duke/Baylor Albany 3
Texas/Stanford/NC State Albany 4

They are probably praying for a Iowa/LSU regional final.

Higher seeds go 13-3 in R32 for the women to make it 44-4 overall.

In the Sweet 16:
4 #1 seeds
3 #2 seeds
4 #3 seeds
2 #4 seeds
2 #5 seeds
1 #7 seed

Both regions that play Friday will have all four top seeds.

The fouls in both the MTSU/LSU & WV/Iowa games was a bit suspect. I understand the lower seeds were playing extremely physical in these matchups, but there was an obvious disparity in called fouls.

Fouls:
MTSU 31
LSU 16

WV 27
Iowa 11

FT:
MTSU 6-9
LSU 26-37

WV 3-5
Iowa 25-30

Wow, they'll be partying in Raleigh tonight. Not only did the men upset Marquette but the women stunned Stanford!

Notre Dame also lost earlier today to Oregon State.

Only one #2 seed, UCLA, is left.

LSU defeats UCLA 78-69

Looked more like a F4 game.

So #1 Texas vs. #3 NCSU and #1 South Carolina vs. #3 Oregon St. on Sunday
On Monday #3 LSU vs. #1 Iowa/#5 Colorado winner and #1 USC/#5 Baylor winner vs. #3 UConn/#7 Duke winner (sounds like men's basketball tourney!).

E8 rematch between 2023 Natty chip game participants. LSU vs. Iowa...Mulkey vs. Bluder...Clark vs. Reese. ESPN has to be salivating at the ratings and eyeballs that's going to tune in. Wow.

Also my beloved Paige Bueckers vs. Juju Watkins. It's a shame these two games are stuck on Monday night on ESPN. If ESPN had changed the schedule and had these semifinals on Friday these two games would be Sunday afternoon on ABC. Instead tomorrow we're stuck seeing South Carolina and three other schools no one other than the schools involved care about.

I think they set it up so the #1 overall seed would have the advantage in playing Sunday to get the extra day off before the final 4.

ESPN probably rooting big for Iowa and UConn to win. Imagine a final 4 with South Carolina on one side, and then UConn/Iowa on the other side.

Monday night will still bring massive ratings. Just wondering how late they tip these off. The Friday SF will suck though. Iowa/LSU vs USC (with a win), but still must watch even as a casual sports fan.

Higher seeds go 5-3 in the R16 to make it 49-7 overall.

In the Elite 8, all four games are 1 vs. 3.

Iowa/LSU at 7, USC/UConn at 9.

Fri at 7 and 930 I think.

Just turning on the TV. Talking about Oregon St.-South Carolina. Oregon St.'s shortest starter is 5'11." Tallest is 6'3."

ESPN really can't lose right now. Its really amazing that Mondays ESPN double header work out so well for a potential ratings blockbuster. First a repeat of the two teams in last year's national championship game. LSU's Angel Reese VS. Iowa's Caitlin Clark. Then UConn's Paige Bueckers VS. USC's Juju Watkins.
