Been open basically for a month. Two XHCMD from Detroit mercy with Alabama ties in the portal. A few big bodies in there too.

I’ve snooped around and found some transfers they contacted, nobody high major yet.

Assuming we really do only have one spot, which I know likely isn't how it will play out, we desperately need a big man who is ready to play and contribute.

I think Shaver will be ready to crack the rotation next year, but I would be surprised if he was ready to play as many minutes as JD did this year.

A good bit of the players I see listing UAB as reaching out have been forwards and centers. This would suggest to me that we anticipate the gang to run it back. That being said, a guests lower in the rotation could absolutely transfer out if the top guys stay. Dunning Jr, KJ satterfield, maybe someone else may think they can get some PT somewhere rather than wait. If they run it back and add in McGee then there isn’t much room for those 2 to break through

I get the feeling Ortiz isn’t happy. I also can’t imagine Toney is satisfied with the way things have gone this year.

Ortiz has shown up recently, but if he has desires to start and get a lot of PT then I could see it. McGhee also takes his spot from him as the 3 point shooting PG. If EG returns then I could see Ortiz being the 3rd PG and not happy with it. Toney is just a UAB guy through and through. If he wants to be the guy somewhere his last season he could absolutely be the man in a smaller conference. I just love him and I think AK does too. Some of these guys won’t transfer unless our entire team runs it back. Then they have to decide if they liked their role this season

I think we have to trust the staff in Shaver's development. That said we need to recruit another big anyway. I could see Ortiz bailing. I don't see TT. One has to hope Yax takes the Zeno approach.

Where would Ortiz go though? He's been a valuable player for us, but hasn't exactly lit the world on fire. Would he want to go back to a small conference school? I think he could carve out a bigger role next year as long as he's locked in on defense, goes hard for boards, and his 3point percentage goes up a slight bit. I've liked the fight from him I've seen on the court. I didn't see that early in the year, and it looked like he just wanted to jack up shots.

His social media posts have indicated everything hasn’t went the way he wants.

I agree I don’t see TT going anywhere and he’s a UAB guy, but his role got reduced to basically nothing in the tournament.

I don’t want either guy to leave, nor do I want to see Dunning or Shaver leave. If we can return most of the team and have these guys develop, along with a couple of good pieces in the portal/juco, we could be in tremendous shape heading into next year.

We need to go get Yax’s cousin and a big man. For that to happen though someone would have to leave. With Davis gone we have 2 spots

Deywilk Tavarez, MEAC rookie of the year, Guard. He went oof at the end of the season and if Yax isn’t already staying, I think that would be a great addition and incentive to stay

HE IS LOT more aggressive on defense, still doing major mistake at the end of the game but he improve a lot since the beginning of the season
