RE: This Sums Everything Up!
I read all the threads and agree with most.
Still bummed.
You can point to free throws, breaks that went the wrong way, or shooting horrible, especially in the first half. I think they thought all they had to do was show up. I didn't see the intensity I wanted to see, from the get go.
That said, they should be good next year, probably favored to win the MAC. So what? Same old, same old. TK is an offense kind of guy, and loves guards. As good as Simmons was this year (best post up guy we've had recently as someone said in another thread), but we are still short a legit 5, and a backup to that 5. Wight was a disappointment, and Brcic has been injured. Not that it looked like they were going to be difference makers anyway.
That's on the philosophy of the program. TK seems to recruit more guards than inside guys. Some leave and we still have plenty, but don't have enough inside guys. We get punished too many times inside. Maybe they can't get them, but it seems other teams do.
In another thread it was brought up how coach K responded to lack of height thing - they measure that by reach, wingspan, and jump. Or something like that. So does everybody else coach. If I have a beef with the program, it's the lack of filling the team with big guys. It's nice that Simmons can chuck up a three, but that's not a priority, or shouldn't be. Like today, KSU did a great job of controlling the game so it became a slow half court affair. Other than Simmons, they are playing 4 guards, sans Andre.
While we were only 10-21 from the line, we got drilled 42-32 in points in the paint.
This is why they will never win the tournament or any game in any other.
