WBB vs UAB at AAC Tourney Day 2
3 weeks ago these two teams were playing for a share of first place.

The 87-74 win for UAB is the Blazers’ only win in their last 7 games as they fell from 8-3.
For Rice (9-4 at the time), that loss started a five-game skid.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6pm tonight at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. The telecast will be live on ESPN+

I still think we have a chance to win this tournament. But we need to shoot well, and will need someone besides just Fisher to lead the way.

A couple of minor upsets already yesterday with Tulane and Wichita State winning.

ECU and USF win the early two games.

And non-AAC related, but South Carolina has had quite an interesting SEC tournament. First they hit a buzzer beater 3 pointer to remain undefeated in the semis. And today, they and LSU have a bench-clearing ‘fight’ at the end of their SEC championship game.

Cardozo of South Carolina can’t play in the first round of the NCAA tournament now (they won’t need her). LSU ended the game today with five players and South Carolina six (everyone else was ejected for leaving the bench), but I guess they can all play in the NCAA tournament opener?

Rice leads 18-12. 2:04 left in the fist. First break of the game. Pretty fast paced game. Fisher will look to complete a 3 point play after the break.

She missed the FT.

Rice already has 16 offensive rebounds - most aggressive we have been all year attacking the offensive boards.

Good solid 2Q, let’s keep the pressure on and try to put this one out of reach in the 3Q.

Got my wish for the 3Q.

Not out of reach but good to see some trademark Rice Owls WBB for the first time in a few weeks.

Keep it rolling!

Tulane leading Charlotte big in a bit of a shocker for the evening finale.

BTW, I’m not sure if today’s games have a ton of bearing on the other postseason tournaments but I know we have submitted bids to host an NIT or that other postseason tournament game. But worry about those later. Concentrate on UNT and the AAC tournament for now.
