Bingo!

Basketball practice facility, Softball, Baseball, etc yes. We should pony up for that. That said the University should kick in a certain % like everyone else in the country. Don't get me fired up today....... I'm all jacked up on Mt Dew.

Never seen a UAB commencement outside of Bartow...

I did in the covid year(s). My son's graduation ceremony was at the ol' gray lady.

This is a new age. Facilities are nice and I want them all improved. That said, how good are new facilities with losing programs drawing flies?

You feel me?

He probably wants to have the funds under his control. With NIL it is somewhat outside his control.

I feel that he would rather have them go to facilities.

We need to update Bartow, but after that we have very good facilities. AK has done very well with seemingly very little NIL. If AK had a good NIL for a Mid Major we’d be rolling

Agree. Even if we had average NIL it would make a big difference when you pair it with AK's recruiting ability.

Is the University not contributing anything? I thought they would be kicking in a portion of the cost.

After the Bartow project, we still need to address baseball. Young Memorial Field is atrocious. Also would still need the baseball/softball field house. Third on that list is an on campus tennis facility so we don't have to play at George Ward Park or the Hoover Met.

I wasn’t even thinking about other sports but you are correct about Baseball. In the Basketball bubble I’d assume Fix Bartow and then get some NIL cooking is the plan

When do we get the full AAC TV payout? Could those funds not be used for upgrades

Thought we had to wait 7 years for that. Basically the life of the contract, thru 2030. Maybe I’m wrong. Basically we will continue to work at a disadvantage to 8 other schools and then the next contract won’t be half as good.

Not quite. Our AAC share increases each year, reaching full share in year 4 or 5, I think.

Thank you. So we go from getting a small bag of chips for lunch to getting a family sized, then we get a party sized in year 3. Eventually we get the rotel velveeta cheese dip and a hot dog or two.

They were putting up Starry banners on the windows of the main entrance yesterday when I went to renew football season tickets. FWIW

Doesn’t give me faith that any heavy changes or construction is about to happen.

If the conference doesn't add a basketball & olympic sports member to replace SMU, I would think our share would increase by dividing the pot fewer ways. Army would only get a portion of SMU's share as a football-only member.

The conference should also have SMU's exit fee to distribute.

I believe the Bartow project has only gotten stage 1 approval from the BOT. All construction projects have to have 4 stages of approval before a project can begin. Those approvals can only occur at BOT meetings and they only meet 5 times a year. So best case, in my view, would be construction starting after the 2024-2025 season.

Wouldn’t it be nice to add a Dayton or VCU? Dayton seems like they’d bid and win immediately for a conference tournament in their backyard, though.

Probably not a popular opinion, and I'm Texan so I'm biased, but I like Fort Worth as a tournament locale. I would advocate for something more central to the Southeastern teams, but what I don't want is for this tournament to turn back into the Mempiss Invitational. Let's have it outside of someone's home arena.
