Yes. Mostly below the C&D Canal.

MTSU made the right decision as did Delaware. CUSA is a better conference than the MAC now and will grow the gap in the future. I no idea why CUSA decided UMASS wasnt a good fit but good luck to them in the MAC.

The MAC made a serious mistake in trying to force us into a grant of rights for the pennies that is the MAC TV deal. I don't know if our idiot administration had foresight to see that things are not settled or if they just lucked into the right decision, but we don't belong in a league where all of the schools play near or north of the 40th parallel.

The MAC TV deal is a tiny bit better than the current CUSA deal (figures suggest 808k per for the MAC, 750-800k per for CUSA) and our current deal also required a GoR, just a limited time one. Just wanted to clarify some points, overall I agree it was not in the best interest of MTSU. No way you guys pass up on 18 mil in distributions over the past two years to join the MAC.

I haven't gone through the thread so maybe someone already mention this. Isn't most of that 800k for the MAC ate up in production cost?

I don't think it's been mentioned. From what I can tell from almost decade old articles, the MAC is on the hook for ESPN+ (formerly ESPN3) content production costs. But I think that is pretty standard now.

The OP being the one to say they should have left tells me it was definitely the right decision.

The MAC is based in the rust belt of Ohio and Michigan. Nothing wrong with that, just the way it is. They would have been an outlier, both culturally and geographically. While CUSA is definitely spread out it is more Southern based.

On that note... how's the weather in Delaware in October?

EDIT: Nevermind. I looked it up. Cool but pleasant. I'll take it!

If we can avoid the plague of rain from this past year, it should be great!

Did the Mac get Mass basketball as well? I don't know how good they are in basketball but if I remember right it was a sticking point in them joining Cusa.

UMass joined the MAC for all sports. They're ok in basketball. They've had success in the past, but they haven't made the tournament since 2014.
