What!?? Huh? What does that mean?

Ever play golf?

There is no golf course on (or particularly near) the grounds of the Greensboro Colliseum.

No, one can't walk to a golf course from the Coliseum, but you could add it to your trip after the Gobblers bow out in the first round.

Ouch!

I see a lot of fans and Hokie pay sites being down on Mike Young right now and I ask "Who the hell do you think we're going to get who's better?"

It's not like VT has a long history with 60+ NCAA tournament appearances.

Mike Young is a great coach and if VT gets rid of him they will regret it.

That is actually not true.
It would be a hike, but the Starmount Country Club is located about 3 miles from the Coliseum.

ACC commissioner Jim Phillips announces men's basketball tournament will be played in Greensboro or Charlotte for five consecutive years, 2025-29. Longest run in N.C., since 1990-2000. Part of a package of dozens of neutral-site championships over six years in the state.

@chroniclesports
Durham will host the 2025, 2027, and 2029 ACC baseball tournaments, and Charlotte will host in 2026 and 2028.

Well, the ACC extracted $15M from Carolina taxpayers when HQ were moved to Charlotte. In return, Carolina taxpayers extracted more friendly venues for their local universities’ basketball teams. There is nothing that epitomizes the importance of Tobacco Road basketball more than this deal.

$15 Million wasted. ACC offices should have remained in Greensboro.

If the ACC can "own" Charlotte, it will be worth it. They already own Greensboro.

Whereas I agree it would have been fine if the the offices staying in Greensboro, the $15 million for expanded neutral site championships was a good deal for the tax payers.

Of course I say that as a Virginia Tax payer and rabid ACC fan.

It doesn’t matter where the men’s bb tournament is held. Duke and UNC will win most of them.

Ahh, private club, no?

My sandy roots lie in Southern Pines. I miss what it once was in the 90’s 03-melodramatic

Greensboro gets two of the next three men's tournaments. It will probably be the last two.
The women's tournament which has been held in Greensboro for around the last 20 years, is now going to be shared with Charlotte. The ACC has yet to announce the location of the 2026 women's tournament.

Might change under Hubert Davis but Roy didn't seem to care much about the ACCT. UNC last won it in 2016 and only won it three times and none of them were in national championship years (although 2016 they made were runner up and they made the Final Four in 2007 and 2008).

Within the entire ACC, there was a time when winning the Conference Championship in any sport was more important than winning a "national" championship.

The ACC was the first and only (for a time) that held a conference championship tournament at the end of the season (except for football) to determine the champion regardless of regular season record.

Winning the Championship was the epitome.
When other conferences started to copy the ACC and national tournament fields expanded, winning a conference championship was just a way to secure a spot in the national field of "playoff sports" where money was the goal.

We went from being the best among your peers, to which school can make the most money for your conference.

Obviously there is a lot that needs to develop, but I have to wonder if a hostile takeover of MSG in the 30’s is on the horizon. Depending on how things shake out, UConn could be a viable candidate and we end up with MSG deciding between:

BC, UConn, Syracuse, and Notre Dame

Vs

Providence, St. John’s, Seton Hall, and Villanova

IMO ^^^^ This is exactly what is wrong with collegiate athletics.

We have become much more concerned about how others perceive us as opposed to how we view ourselves.

Why should the ACC give a **** about MSG? Are we holding championship for the media or for the schools/teams/players?

The women's tournament which has been held in Greensboro for around the last 20 years, is now going to be shared with Charlotte. The ACC has yet to announce the location of the 2026 women's tournament.

Something wicked this way comes

I think ESPN does and I think a block of current members do. I want it in Greensboro every year!

ACC commissioner Jim Phillips announces men's basketball tournament will be played in Greensboro or Charlotte for five consecutive years, 2025-29. Longest run in N.C., since 1990-2000. Part of a package of dozens of neutral-site championships over six years in the state.

@chroniclesports

Whereas I agree it would have been fine if the the offices staying in Greensboro, the $15 million for expanded neutral site championships was a good deal for the tax payers.

Of course I say that as a Virginia Tax payer and rabid ACC fan.

Greensboro gets two of the next three men's tournaments. It will probably be the last two.

People keep predicting the end of tournaments in Greensboro and it keeps not happening.
