Quinyon Mitchell 2024 NFL draft
still real early in the 2024 NFL draft preparation by teams, and also with mock drafts, but in recent days have seen two mock drafts that are projecting Quinyon Mitchell as a 1st rd pick

https://www.si.com/nfl/2024/01/18/postse...2792&pid=1

https://walterfootball.com/draft2024stock_20.php

(keeping in mind as predictive attempts these are often very poor and many lack knowledge or research to be accurate in their assessment of players or insight as to team teams..and Scouting Combine and campus tryouts yet to come....plus FA will have huge impact March/April for teams to feel needs before draft)... but at least appears he is a name on the rise...

Dan Williams (1993) is only UT Rocket football player ever selected in 1st rd..in fact only Rocket ever picked 2nd rd or higher..

His tape will impress scouts and obviuosly has since he is already being projected in the first round. He also appears to be a very high character kid, which will also increase his stock. If he runs low 4.35-4.43 ish at combine he will solidify himself as a first round talent

Heck yeah! The ideal situation right nearby UT and with a franchise on the rise. I'd make the trip up to watch him play.

Well, this dude has maybe jumped the shark, but he has Mitchell going at #5 ... to Harbaugh.

https://www.profootballnetwork.com/2024-...-mitchell/

I'm not ready to believe that at all, but it continues to help UT get more publicity.

Good luck getting tickets for the Lions. And their season ticket price has skyrocketed

The Divisional Round game was the most watch divisional round broadcast in NBC's history and the 2nd most viewed Divisional Round game ever at 50.4M viewers. They also had a 54.2 rating in Detroit, meaning 54.2% of all TVs in the Detroit metropolitan area were tuned to the game. For reference, when we only had 4 channels on TVs, it was exceedingly rare to get anything in even the 40 rating band. Detroit wants to see the Lions be good, and if they are for an extended period, Detroit will show how impressive the fanbase is. The fact that through everything, they still were in the top 20 in attendance AND licensing purchases throughout the 2000s and 2010s should show how dedicated this fanbase is.

Very early in practice 1, #Toledo CB Quinyon Mitchell already making a strong case for the top defensive player here.

Looking smooth and controlled. Locking WRs down in 1v1s.

Mitchell has the tape and production of a top-20 prospect. And he’s backing it up so far.

He’s been a star today.

I like it. A nice GUARANTEED contract awaits him. $$$$$$$$

I wish him well.

It was nice seeing Johnson x 2 plus Norton at the BG game. Good advertisement for football recruits at game. I doubt that was by chance.

RE: Quinyon Mitchell 2024 NFL draft
The ESPN end of Senior Bowl week article is up. 7 big things ... one of which is who has cemented themselves as a 1st rounder. Here's the segment.

Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell emerged as the buzziest player at the Senior Bowl this week, virtually cementing himself as a first-round pick with a dominant performance.

"He was the best player on the field on Tuesday," said an area scout after that day's practice. "That's not a hot take. That's reality."

Part of the allure for NFL teams is the fact that Mitchell (6-foot, 196 pounds) decided to stick at Toledo. After a dominant All-MAC season in 2022 that included five interceptions, Mitchell had plenty of opportunities to bounce from Toledo for a high-end NIL deal. Instead, he stayed and thrived again; he leaves the school with 39 pass breakups over the past three seasons. And for the NFL personnel that came through Toledo this season -- including several general managers -- there's a distinct affinity for his decision not to chase a new logo for his senior year.

"I think there's an overt appreciation for loyalty through every conversation with NFL personnel that have come through our campus," Rockets coach Jason Candle told ESPN. "It's a rare thing when a young man goes through that process and doesn't get wowed by it."

Instead of trying to fit into a new team and system, Mitchell embraced a place where he had built relationships with teammates and staff and had consistent success. That continued and set his path to the first round.

"He puts stock and energy in things that matter," Candle said. "If you are playing the long game like he is, I think he knew where he'd end up being."
