Now, I want to be very clear— very clear up front: Not every Republican, not even the majority of Republicans, are MAGA Republicans. Not every Republican embraces their extreme ideology."

"I know because I’ve been able to work with these mainstream Republicans. But there is no question that the Republican Party today is dominated, driven, and intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans, and that is a threat to this country."

In a recent speech near Valley Forge, PA, Biden said that Trump is "echoing the same exact language used in Nazi Germany. He probably posted on social media the words that best describe his 2024 campaign 'revenge,' 'power,' and 'dictatorship.'"
"There’s no confusion about who Trump is and what he intends to do," Biden said.

In a speech in front of Independence Hall that was lit up blood-red September 2022 Biden used similar rhetoric to describe his political opponents.

"Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic,” Biden said at the time.

In 2020, when Biden took the White House, some 47 percent of the popular vote cast their ballot for President Trump. Biden would be referring to these voters.

Biden's DOJ has classified Catholics who attend Latin Mass and parents who speak out at school board meetings as extremists, too.

There is just so much ignorance in this comment, I hardly know where to start... like a mosquito on a nude beach...

If 'not even a majority of Republicans' are these bad people, then why is Trump leading by a huge margin? It seems self-evident that Trump leads a majority of Republicans, since he got 51% of the Iowa vote... you know, a majority. I don't know how many of Vivek's 8% will now swing to him, but it's more than zero.... and he got 97% in 2020, which essentially means that there really is no push back in the party. Some may be holding their noses, but they will choose him over Biden and company all day, every day.

The problem comes from this definition of 'MAGA Republican', which of course means nothing but whatever the speaker wants it to mean in the moment, and that can change mid-speech.

Democrats have 'created' this 'extremism'. There is almost none of that in the actual party nor in the movement. All that has happened is that Democrats have reframed perfectly reasonable (even if you disagree with them) policy positions into some sort of extremism... where (as an example) supporting the registration and vetting of immigrants is not something that EVERY normal person would do but is instead 'racism', despite the fact that people of all races face the identical scrutiny.

Mostly it seems to me that these extremist labels have been created to deflect from the TRUE extremism in the democrat party... where abortion up until delivery and gender altering chemicals and surgery for minors and the elimination of protections designed for biological women in favor of 'challenged' men are pushing THEIR party... even though (just as Biden says) not remotely a majority of Democrats support these things.

Once again, Democrats (the party) are doing precisely everything that they accuse others of doing, as a distraction.

Nothing new about this approach. It's just the label of the moment. And, in the long term, it is counterproductive.

In 1998, Hillary went on national t.v. and declared that concerns about Bill Clinton's in-office philandering were all just the product of a "vast right-wing conspiracy". Until that point, I had never considered myself to be anything other than a liberal. But, since I was deeply concerned about Slick Willie's behavior, and did not for a minute believe his denials, it started to dawn on me that maybe, just maybe, I was no longer a liberal.

That same dynamic, I believe, will play out from and and after 2024, however this upcoming election turns out - - assuming of course that we still have a nation once the progressives are done with us.

Most true liberals didn't actually move right.

I do run into old school Democrats on occasion. It seems their answer is always that they aren’t exactly happy with the trans/woks agenda, but they still vote D because they think the Republicans are worse because (insert MSNBC taking points A-Z here). No matter what information you give to show that the Dems are the ones who are guilty of whatever allegation made against the Republicans, they won’t change their mind.

As to what the definition of MAGA, I think this has now evolved from the guy wearing the red hats to basically anyone who is not voting Democrat across the board.
