It's a conundrum. If she admitted that she was fired for lack of academic integrity Harvard would have a deuce difficult time keeping her worthless butt employed. So, she blamed the only justification that Harvard could use to keep her employed in any capacity, the aggrieved status of "Victim" with the implied but not stated victimizers being Straight White Men.

RE: Harvard president resigns
Harvard's outgoing plagiarist president Claudine Gay will KEEP her almost $900,000 salary

Quote:Harvard University's outgoing President, Claudine Gay, is poised to continue earning nearly $900,000 annually, despite her recent resignation from the top administrative position. The decision to step down came amid a storm of allegations suggesting she had not taken sufficient action against antisemitism and was guilty of academic plagiarism.

Gay, a Political Science professor, is set to return to a faculty position at the prestigious institution in Cambridge, Massachusetts despite the scandals. Prior to assuming the presidency just six months ago, Gay earned $879,079 as the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Dean in 2021 and $824,068 in 2020, as per university records, the New York Post reports.

While details about her new faculty position were not provided on Tuesday, it is anticipated that her salary will be on par with, if not higher than, her previous earnings. The extent of her entitlement to the presidential salary, estimated at around $1 million, considering her brief six-month tenure, remains unclear.

"It is with a heavy heart but a deep love for Harvard that I write to share that I will be stepping down as president," Gay wrote in her resignation letter. "This is not a decision I came to easily. Indeed, it has been difficult beyond words because I have looked forward to working with so many of you to advance the commitment to academic excellence that has propelled this great university across centuries" Gay wrote in her resignation letter.

"After consultation with members of the Corporation," she added, "it has become clear that it is in the best interests of Harvard for me to resign so that our community can navigate this moment of extraordinary challenge with a focus on the institution rather than any individual."

Upon resignation, Gay said it had been "distressing" to have doubt cast on her "commitments to confronting hate and to upholding scholarly rigor," chalking it up to "personal attacks and threats fueled by racial animus."
Harvard's previous president, Lawrence Bacow, earned an annual salary of $1.3 million before his departure, according to reports from the Harvard Crimson. In the interim, Alan M. Garber, the current provost and chief academic officer, will step in as the acting president until a permanent replacement is selected, as announced by university officials on Tuesday.

She committed an unforgivable act...being a liberal who got caught being a bigot and antisemite. She'll be paid to take one for the team.

Seriously...anyone think it's not going to be a box checker that gets the job? Not how it works. Not allowed to replace a black, lesbian with a white no matter how qualified.

Rearranging Chairs On The Sinking Academic Ship – Claudine Gay Is Gone, But The DEI Problems Remain

Quote:Claudine Gay had no choice but to resign, she had lost all credibility and was damaging Harvard’s brand. She would have presided over a zombie presidency.

I previously wrote that I thought it would be better for the country if she stayed in the position, to keep the focus on the DEI ideological rot that lifted her into the presidency and which she championed, It’s important to Harvard that its brand survive Claudine Gay. It’s important to America that it doesn’t.

I don’t care about the “Harvard” brand, which signifies the smugness, classism, and elitism that makes me want to puke. It’s not just the Harvard brand under pressure, most of the ‘elite’ colleges and universities, particularly the Ivy League, are damaged by their reactions to Hamas’ October 7 massacre. How bad the damage is and how long it lasts remains to be seen, but it’s not a bad thing if it is deserved – and in most cases it is.

Academia has been corrupted and hollowed out by the rot caused by the DEI agenda, which elevates group identity over the individual, and skin color and physical appearance over merit. It’s also a part of why “The anti-American activists are the anti-Capitalist activists are the anti-Israel activists”.

The corruption and rot caused by DEI is on full display, and Claudine Gay has become its poster child. While on substance she should be gone, having her stay in place serves the function of keeping the focus on the DEI farce. The Harvard brand may have to fall so that a better academia can rise.

It’s important to Harvard that its brand survive Claudine Gay. It’s important to American that it doesn’t.

Now she’s gone, and Harvard and academia will try to claim the problem is over. In fact, they’ll claim there never was a problem, she was singled out because she is a black woman. That U. Penn squeezed out Liz Magill, they’ll claim, may not be racism but because she’s a woman.

This will be turned around into a racism and misogyny problem. It’s already happening.

Lost in this identity shuffle is what lit the fuse for these women, their tolerance of antisemitism to placate the unruly mobs running wild on campus in the name of social and racial justice.

The resignation of Claudine Gay and Liz Magill, however, do not end Harvard’s, U. Penn’s, or academia’s underlying problem of an excessive and obsessive focus on race and ‘Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’ ideology that is gutting academia. Rearranging administrative chairs on a sinking ship is not the answer.

Havard and other Ivy League schools need to jettison not just their Presidents, but the DEI industrial complex that has captured the schools, leading to increased antisemitism, decreased or eliminated academic standards, and conflict.

Yep. Good work if you can get it.

I would rather pay for the British Monarchy than give money away to the Sons and Daughters of the super wealthy, and their skanky friends and projects.

At least the British still laugh at the royals. I fail to find anything humorous about our entitled. With the Brits they can laugh at the royals and realize that they are no better than the commoners when it comes to conduct. Here we have to witness their stupidity and pretend that it is great, and we pay for it! In Britian, the Royals are a distraction from the common. In the U.S. the Super Wealthy push their narcissistic and hedonistic immorality as the norm. One is comical and the other repugnan

it's beyond 'defiant' how they display immorality and lack of any version of ethical leadership as virtuous...

they'll find out soon enough how the real "defiant" will turn those weenouses into their first meal ... I hope I live long enough to see it happen...

Claudine Gay Writes Pathetic Op-Ed Playing the Victim, Gets Fact-Checked Into Oblivion

Quote:The pity party has begun for Claudine Gay following her ouster as the president of Harvard. What began with a controversy over antisemitism led to a bevy of plagiarism charges, with the latest allegations being the last straw.

As RedState reported, it wasn't long before left-wing DEI proponents and the mainstream press circled the wagons (but I repeat myself). The reasons given for Gay's ouster ran the gambit from wild conspiracy theories to charges of racism. What wasn't given credence was the fact that she was a serial plagiarist who had no business holding such a prestigious academic role.

Tribalism trumps reality on the left every single time, and that's never more true than when the secular religion of intersectionality is in play. It wasn't just Gay's defenders who cried a river, though. She wrote a farewell op-ed in The New York Times that is absolutely pathetic.

What was the "trap" she's alleging was set for her? Gay was asked by Rep. Elise Stefanik if calls for genocide against Jews violated Harvard's code of conduct, to which she responded that it depends on the "context." That wasn't what took her down, though. In fact, her grossly antisemitic answer was largely papered over.

Even the original claims of plagiarism didn't make a dent, with Harvard's leadership penning a letter in support of Gay even though she had obviously committed gross violations of academic ethics. It was only when a second trove of examples came forth that action was finally taken.

Still, Gay has no intention of admitting what she did. Instead, she wrote this laughable paragraph defending herself.

Most recently, the attacks have focused on my scholarship. My critics found instances in my academic writings where some material duplicated other scholars’ language, without proper attribution. I believe all scholars deserve full and appropriate credit for their work. When I learned of these errors, I promptly requested corrections from the journals in which the flagged articles were published, consistent with how I have seen similar faculty cases handled at Harvard.

I have never misrepresented my research findings, nor have I ever claimed credit for the research of others. Moreover, the citation errors should not obscure a fundamental truth: I proudly stand by my work and its impact on the field.

It's jarring to witness someone lie so smoothly. She's trying to present her plagiarism as an accident, completely unbeknownst to her as she was committing it. To be clear, she didn't just "duplicate other scholars' language," she lifted whole paragraphs word for word. She also did not promptly admit to her actions when confronted with them. As Chris Brunet points out above, she and Harvard instead tried to bury them, threatening to sue The New York Post if they published their story on it.

The rest of that excerpt is simply incredible. Gay says she never "claimed credit for the research of others." That's exactly what she did, though. When you copy someone else's work and publish it as your own, you are claiming credit for it whether you announce it or not.

Gay went on in her op-ed to do the expected. Namely, claim that the real reason she was targeted is because she's just too darn diverse.

It is not lost on me that I make an ideal canvas for projecting every anxiety about the generational and demographic changes unfolding on American campuses: a Black woman selected to lead a storied institution. Someone who views diversity as a source of institutional strength and dynamism. Someone who has advocated a modern curriculum that spans from the frontier of quantum science to the long-neglected history of Asian Americans. Someone who believes that a daughter of Haitian immigrants has something to offer to the nation’s oldest university.

In other words, she's a strong black woman who favors "diversity," and that should give her total immunity from basic standards. She's also an immigrant, so that gives her double protection. Talk about the soft bigotry of low expectations. I don't know a single black person outside of politics who thinks they are above reproach simply because of their skin color and immigration status, which goes to show how perverse the left-wing partisan bubble can be.

It should also be noted that the Times didn't put an ounce of effort into investigating Gay's plagiarism, but the moment she lost her position, they offered her prime real estate to play the victim. It's a travesty that we've come to a place in society where someone can behave badly but because they are on the "right" team, they can pretend to be oppressed. Gay makes nearly a million dollars a year and will get to keep her tenure. If anything, no real accountability has been found in this situation. She's gotten away scot-free, which is par for the course for a Democrat.
