RE: Notable Non Conference Opponent Results
The tigers mission now is not just to win but exceed the expected margin of victory to improve NET and KenPom ratings. The NET depends so much of efficiency/MoV that it's imperative to overachieve in that regard now.
Unfortunately, we've done a poor job of this so far except against UVA.
KenPom has us as a 19 point favorite tonight. A 20+ point victory is a good start.

the AAC is so much better than the CUSA that Cal inherited...but the national narrative is the same. It's a shame too.

Just for the fact that they are in the SEC, I would include Vanderbilt in that list.
Vanderbilt: 4-8 Net ranking 278
Good wins: None
Bad losses: Presbyterian, San Fransisco, Western Carolina

I would contend that 2008 CUSA is easily a stronger conference than the current AAC this season. Also, 2008 CUSA's AdjEM rating is a full point higher than this AACs and that CUSA would be the 8th best conference in the country passing the AAC and the A10.

RE: Notable Non Conference Opponent Results
ND was almost as bad of a loss as had we lost to vandy. FAU losing to FGCU was a q4 loss. Unfortunately it’s looking like when it’s all said and done other than A&M and Clemson the wins we stacked up in non-con are going to not be as strong as we thought at the time.
Virginia fell all the way to 51 in kenpom so I expect a similar drop in the NET. That will end up not being a q1 win for us.
Arkansas is at 98 which is right on the border of falling out of q2.
Michigan has fallen to 77 so it could go either way if they can stay q2. Probably do just based on being in the BIG.
Our own NET has been lagging since we aren’t putting away the bad teams we play. We really gotta split with FAU and not lose more than one other game somewhere to get a top 4 seed imo and with their disrespect I wouldn’t be surprised at a 5 in that scenario.

Nice work by Big D --
Tigers ? Just win baby! I get it, that the margin of victory is overemphasized in these computer rankings. I am not disputing any of the previous comments and concerns about our opponents.
But, if we keep on winning at a high rate, things will work out for us.

Winning games by less than optimal margins is a far better outcome than losing to dumpster diving teams à la FAU. I'll take winning every time.

RE: Notable Non Conference Opponent Results
Ole Miss finishes up its noncon undefeated. I think they start to rack up some losses in SEC play but it shouldn’t be in danger of turning into a bad loss for us. They will be q2 at worst and a good chance of staying q1 as long as they don’t lose to a vandy.

A horrible day for non-conference opponents. Arkansas, Missouri, Clemson, Virginia, and Villanova all lost. Meanwhile, as of halftime, Charlotte is stomping FAU to the curb.

And Clemson lost twice this week. They are probably going to start teetering on dropping to q2 also. UNC game won’t hurt them much but I’m not confident in anyone except Texas A&M staying q1 at this point.

I know its not non-conference but noticed today that North Texas would currently be a Q1 win on the road. I hope FAU, N.Texas and SMU win every game other than ours so we can have a few more

Yep. I thought the OM game was one we should have won. I feel that way even more so now. We better cross our fingers and hope they don’t fall apart in conference play.
