We lost because…..

- The refs were terrible.
- We had starters not playing.
- Our players had food poisoning and weren’t 100%.
- If it wasn’t so hot we would have won.
- If it wasn’t so cold we would have won.
- If it wasn’t raining we would have won.
- If this was a home game we would have won.
- The other team was lucky.
- The refs were bought and paid by the other team.
- We win that game 8/10 times if we played them.
- The game really didn’t mean anything so the players didn’t get up for it.
- We weren’t motivated because we played lesser team in a non name bowl.
- Our players were hurt.
- The wind was blowing against us.
- The refs blah, blah, blah.

These are the excuses I was prepared to use when it looked as though the Gamecocks were throwing away (literally) the New Orleans Bowl:

Luckily, we came back in the end, and I didn't have to call Mother Nature on the carpet for her clearly one-sided behavior in the Superdome.
