FSU Board of Trustees meeting
It's athletic piece so not linking it but Nicole Auerbach from them with this-
BREAKING: Florida State has scheduled an emergency meeting of its Board of Trustees for Friday morning.

This is the first concrete step needed in any effort to enable the school to take legal action against the ACC to challenge the grant of rights.

The FSU Board of Trustees just scheduled a 10 am ET virtual meeting for Friday morning. Due to the state's sunshine law, the meeting will be accessible to the media and public to watch: https://trustees.fsu.edu/meetings

RE: FSU Board of Trustees meeting
The school would likely need board approval before filing a complaint against its own conference, with trustees taking part in that major decision as key constituents. The move would not necessarily mean that the Seminoles are committed to leaving the ACC, and there are no assurances from the 16-team SEC or the 18-team Big Ten that invitations to higher-revenue conferences are waiting.

Ah a one step forward, two steps back piece.

Will we have a Gameday Thread/Watch Party for the BOT Meeting like we would for Chicago State back in the day?

Wasn't the ACC one of the reasons the CFP didn't expand to 12 this year? If so it seems like all these types of issues are the P5's own doing.

Who doesn’t want to get called into an important meeting on a Friday morning when Monday is Christmas?

This isn't about just the playoff it's about the difference in media value from the Big 10/SEC and the ACC schools.

They need to drop the news on National Championship Monday... "financing secured. Settlement in the works."

The B1G and SEC can’t offer, it could be seen as tampering. So they’ll sit back and wait to see what happens. If they can weasel their way out of the ACC, the invite will come.

The ACC is the next sacrificial victim in the consolodation of power. They always have been. The attempted destruction of the Big XII was always a scapegoat.

Unlike 99% of the articles and columns and posts on this topic that just want to wish away the scale of the money involved, this Thamel article does point to a specific private equity fund that would be used to fund any FSU buyout. This has always been the crux of any of this: who is paying for the buyout of several hundred million dollars (because the ACC rationally isn’t just giving that up)?

And for every fiscally irresponsible university that buys their way out, it grants more incentive for the rest to stay.

RE: FSU Board of Trustees meeting
Maybe Kirk Herbstreit knew something back in June ...

"Who's going where? Where's North Carolina going? Where's Oregon going? ("There will be no further Big Ten expansion without Notre Dame" Whoops. Ducks to the the Big Ten in 2024) Where's Washington going ("FOX isn't going to pay for Washington and Oregon to move to the B1G" Oof. Huskies to the Big Ten in '24)? Where's Clemson gonna end up? Where's Florida State gonna go? Where's Miami (going)? There's so much to me that's fascinating. I'm sure it won't happen during the (football) season — (or) maybe it will — that I'm guessing it happens after this year ... I think it's gonna be a fascinating time (when) we sit here and talk next June getting ready for the '24 season."
