More Useless College Football Information
In the vein of Schmolik's thread today, enjoy some useless information!

In the CFB section of Sports-Reference, I found all instances of major football conferences having a "rainbow" of team records, which I'm defining thusly:

A "rainbow" exists if a conference has played a full single round-robin and ends up with no ties and all different records. For example, a conference with 6 teams ends up with records of 5-0, 4-1, 3-2, 2-3, 1-4, and 0-5.

Obviously the two at the bottom are war-depleted conferences, but they technically qualify, so I included them for good measure.

It happened three times in four years in the Big 8. It almost happened in 1987 except for a tie between Kansas and K-State.

I love that 1956 SWC Rainbow:

A&M 6-0
Texas 0-6

Perfect season!

And the PCAA (now the Big West) had it happen 3 years straight (1975-77). But it's easier to accomplish this with smaller conferences.

Four game were one point games:

A&M 7 TCU 6
TCU 7 Baylor 6
SMU 14 Rice 13
SMU 20 Texas 19

If exactly one of the TCU games was reversed it would still be a rainbow. It would also be a rainbow if the SMU-Rice game was reversed.

A&M was on probation at the time and did not go to a bowl game despite being ranked 4th in the AP Poll under Paul Bryant. A&M was 9-0-1 overall, with the tie against Houston making the two schools state co-champions.

Bevo was 1-9 with the win against Tulane. They were curb-stomped by the SWC 68-170, and drubbed by Oklahoma 0-45. OU was 10-0 and ranked #1, but unable to go to a bowl game because of a Big 7 rule against going to a bowl game in consecutive years.

Elsewhere, 1956 was the initial year of Ivy League football. Here we are 67 years later and those smarties still haven't figured out realignment.

The whole history of Bowl games is so weird.
