Warnings signs that Wes Miller still can’t coach.
It’s definitely going south fast
For Wes to be successful he needs good on court leadership. He somewhat had that with MAW, DDJ, and Nolley last but was hurt by injuries and a really dumb defensive strategy to start the year.
I almost wish MAW was still on this roster than one of the bigs. Heck he needed to recruit an alpha but instead got a bunch of complimentary guys.

I'm being completely honest...this is getting harder to watch as the game wears on. Merrimack. Mighty Merrimack! Dear Lord I'm trying to stay positive.

We don't know how to run offense if Lakhin isn't in the post.

Gladly take Nolley back. Seen more than enough of Adams-Woods and DDJ. They proved over a large sample size that they couldn't win here. It was time to move on from those guys

Same Merrimack team that only beat a 6-7 D2 team by 4 in their most recent game.

I’m going to have to watch conference play while playing Benny Hill music. Will make it all so much more palatable.

In sports, you get better by playing people who are better than you. Anyone who’s ever played understands that.

MAW would be great to have. Wes gives players a lot of freedom, but that strategy requires smart players who make good decisions.
Simas was supposed to be that alpha, but quite clearly doesn't have the ball handling or decision making skills to be that guy. Not to mention he struggles to stay on the because of his defense at times as well.
Skillings I still hope will develop into that guy, but has regressed lately. If not Skillings, it's hard to see who else it could be. Not Newman, not Fredrick, maybe Day Day or Jizzle but it's hard to imagine them getting to that level this year.
Lahkin can take over games at times, but in todays game it's just about impossible for a big man to be the alpha. Reynolds may be able to take over at times as well, though he hasn't been able to finish in his first two. Aziz doesn't have a skillset on offense.

Merrimack just joined D1 in 2019. It’s a small private school in an outlying suburb of l Boston (North Andover).

Yeah, I googled it. I thought at first someone named a school after some caves in Missouri, but its not the same spelling.

Wife asked and I said the name sounded like something on a river or inter coastal waterway on the east coast. I guessed Maryland.

This is blasphemous talk around here, we have all been taught by the "I know everything crowd" that our conf. schedule is too hard to play better teams in OOC to get ready for conf play. It's better to start 0-6.....

I think he'll be ok, but he's not the alpha people make him out to be. He also seems to make the most boneheaded plays at crucial times. He was terrible for a stretch in the second half tonight and damn near allowed Merrimack back in the game.

Gents...I'm an understudy to Bearcatmark's optimism but dayum. Merrimack at home. We were up only ten at the half. I still maintain that we're playing too many guys. We need to narrow the lineups before B12 play begins. Tonight seemed Wes told the team defense above everything else. We need balance. That's what good teams do.

Wes should give back whatever salary increase he was given earlier this year by Cunningham. Because Wes Miller can’t coach. UC should have scored 85-90 points tonight and won that game by 30. Watching this team is like watching paint dry. Nobody on this team is consistent.

Gained nothing from the game other than getting Reynolds back into the game shape even though he only played 15 minutes.
Other than one nice dunk, Newman didn't do anything all game either. Can't see us thriving in the Big 12 with him out there playing 25+ minutes/night when his offensive game is CUSA quality at best.

I honestly had never heard of Merrimack before seeing the schedule.
They won their regular season and conference tournament but weren't eligible for the tourney. Instead the team they best, Fsirleigh Dickinson went and beat Purdue.
. They play a really unique 2-3 zone that extends like crazy and forces a lot of turnovers. A lot of couches are trying to study their zone. Three man weave (one of the better college hoops podcasts) had a petty good discussion about their defense on their podcast.
