You’d think by now with so many bowls in a row the fanbase might start preparing for it each year.

You really want to compare Memphis to Alabama ? Or any of the schools in the post above ?
How many are Tulane , Liberty and SMU taking ? That’s a more reasonable comparison

I think Bert stated the UM fans are griping about paying $75 for a ticket and said why we are not ready for the P5. So Alabama was used as an example. Some fans on here now think we are ALabama because 1 year we played in Cotton Bowl but really we are like Tulane and SMU bc we have a limited fan base use to cheaper tickets

OK, maybe a better example. Iowa St. is probably gonna have 15,000 fans at the LB for a 7-5 team. They AREN'T Bama, but they are P-5.

maybe not alabama but the traditions of Alabama. We went to 1 NYD bowl and lots of crappy bowls. Not at all about beating AAC teams at home.I am realistic . I have watched and been to games since the 70s and dont remember us being labeled as a strong blue blood team. best record I can remember was a 7 win team in the 70s until TW won 8.

No one is saying we can be a "blue blood". But why can't we be a Oregon, Utah, Louisville or TCU. Those schools and fanbases ALL changed their mindset and they have thrived b/c of it.

That would be nice but also incredibly rare. I have a Notre Dame season tickets as well and I could not unload tickets to the Tenn St game and Central Michigan games. Hard to drum up excitement for turd opponents no matter who you are.
Of course the place was technically a sellout because season tickets are all bought. We have to have a marquee game to take off the stench of the turd opponents.

Any time you have ND tix available, let me know. Tigers and Irish are what I grew up on. Got to go up there in 1988 to see them beat Rice (Rocket returned two KOR's for TD's). Want to get back up there and take my daughter to a game.
And I think TSU was the first ever FCS team ND has played.

Funny that’s literally what I do, but for me it’s $20 a week. That allows me to buy 4 fun zone season tickets, 4 bowl game tickets & have a little left over for very modest contributions to MAF & 901Fund or to help cover travel for most bowl games.

That's a good way to do it. I know times are hard but I used to shop for the cheapest beer prices I could find to put a little back. I'm in a little better position at this point in my life but I know the struggle.

I have four season tickets, and we really enjoy the games. Then I looked at the prices for chairbacks... around $250 for two seats. Especially this time of year, I just can't justify spending that kind of money for a game I can watch at home on my reclining couch. I bought tickets for two people to 6 basketball games this year, and it was only $156 total.
Apologies, and I truly am not trying to pile on, but THIS reasoning is exactly why we aren't there yet. Bama, Notre Dame, Nebraska, tOSU, Texas, none of them have this issue. As I said before, I'm not gonna tell you how to spend your money, but this is the biggest difference between us and big time programs .
Rose Bowl tickets are $400 each or more -- Bama will have 50,000 fans 2,000 miles from Alabama---
Their fans make Bama football a priority
You really want to compare Memphis to Alabama ? Or any of the schools in the post above ?
How many are Tulane , Liberty and SMU taking ? That’s a more reasonable comparison
I think Bert stated the UM fans are griping about paying $75 for a ticket and said why we are not ready for the P5. So Alabama was used as an example. Some fans on here now think we are ALabama because 1 year we played in Cotton Bowl but really we are like Tulane and SMU bc we have a limited fan base use to cheaper tickets
We have a lot of fans that complain about $30-45 tickets and having to walk a quarter mile from parking to the stadium.
Good grief. At the big schools you walk further than that and pay a lot more for tickets.
