AAC Champion
SMU faces 6-6 Boston College (3-5 ACC) on their bowl game.

What an absolute fukking joke.

This is it? It's disgusting.

Good grief....

Unfortunately, that is what happens when your conference has crappy bowl tie-in contracts.

and Memphis gets a bowl with a bigger payoff.
I'm sorry, this is one time I don't care about a conference mate being screwed...they're leaving.

I know, but in general THIS is the bowl game the AAC champion gets if it doesn't snag the NY6 slot?

Pathetic is too kind a word to describe it...

While the ACC is getting screwed, there is little doubt why you want to escape the AAC.

I agree with the exception of where the conference champion goes.

Even the Rose Bowl is nothing now without the playoff. I think it’s part of it this year. Just wait and see how many players opt out. The bowls jump the shark when the playoffs went to 4 teams. And it’s going to be even worse starting next year. The only thing that’s the same in college football is that it’s basically the same 10 schools winning. Even Washington has a history of winning.

There won't be 6-6 or 7-5 teams playing in major bowls. You will at least on paper get a matchup if actual bowl worthy teams.

Sure, now that there is the 6-bowl rotation - if a bowl isn't hosting one of the national semi-final games it's kinda down but the FSU - Georgia game is still pretty good for example.

The only one of the 6 that got really screwed this year is the one that got stuck with Liberty out of CUSA - the team that went undefeated against the 132nd ranked schedule in the country (out of 133).

The contracts give the bowl the first selection, not the champion.

Liberty is going to get destroyed, and it’s just going to reinforce the anti-G5 bias.

The fact that we are in the Liberty Bowl means that it’s already been destroyed. They are are bottom feeder with the SEC . Originally they were a top 7 bowl. But would you rather travel to Memphis or go to Florida or Texas to a bowl ?

You probably couldn't wait to take another jab, but you should try and keep up. He was referring to Liberty the football program playing Oregon, not Liberty the bowl game.

Agree that Liberty will get destroyed. I also wouldn’t be shocked to see FSU get destroyed by UGA. They are likely really pi$$ed at being left out after having a 29 game winning streak.

Tulane losing their coach to pathetic Houston is another sign of the death spiral facing AAC teams. What more could Tulane do? What has Houston done? Nothing to both. But you’re either in or you’re not, and the gulf grows ever wider.

Wasn’t that what MN did to us.

The gulf between grows wider.

Tier 1- SEC, B1G
Tier2 - B12, ACC (maybe 2A)
Tier 3- MWC (with OSU and WSU tie in)
Tier 4- the rest

Huge gap between tier 2 and lower. Money, bowls, etc. Anything below 2 is the small kids table.

It's always been that way. Access bowl or garbage bowl. Liberty Bowl is good to us on occasion and that's it.
