Dear Schedule Makers
Dear CUSA schedule makers,

Please ensure that you schedule all Liberty basketball, baseball, and football games to coincide with NASCAR race weekends at Jax St. (Talladega), Delaware (Dover Speedway), Kenny (Atlanta Speedway), Sammy (COTA & Texas Speedway), Liberty (Martinsville Speedway), and FIU (Homestead Speedway).

Thanks in advance!

RE: Dear Schedule Makers
We have traditionally scheduled road games Talladega weekend. Also, I think the fall race is in October, which is when we play midweek games.

RE: Dear Schedule Makers
Did not want to create a thread and thought this was the best place to ask. Has scheduling changed from seeding teams into pods for the last three weeks.

Quote:Within the format, the 14 programs will play each other once and their travel partner twice in the first seven weeks of the conference season. At the conclusion of the seven weeks, teams will be placed in one of three groups based on conference standings through the first 14 games of league action. The teams will be divided into two groups of five (1-5 and 6-10) and a group of four (11-14). During the final three weeks, teams will play within their respective grouping for the last four games of conference play. Home and away games within the groups will be determined by a preset formula.

They dropped that.

It's just pure round-robin. And seems like the only travel-partners attempt was just UTEP/NMSU. Next year I'd assume partners and a double round-robin 18 games home and away. The next year (with 11) you could do 20 home and away. Or I think the old Big "Ten" with 11 teams played some teams twice and others just once.

Nashville's Superspeedway is just a 25-minute drive from our football stadium. Speedway is pretty much within a couple of football fields of our county line. Speedway is in Lebanon, TN, but race is in June.

Hope we join to make 12 and possibly bring back the pods for the final 3 weeks. Seemed like a good idea. Was it?

Mixed bag. You could probably get a feel for how fans felt by finding the thread about dropping it.

I don't think it really hurt anything much but it didn't necessarily give us the boost we were looking for either. I think they didn't let it go long enough, but the number of teams changed around that time anyway. I want to say it ended after just two seasons and I'm not sure they'd have done it that COVID year anyway.

I seem to recall the complaint being having to make travel plans with shorter notice than usual and while I still think the idea was solid it happened to not have any tangible payoff in the brief period that we tried it.

11 can be scheduled around in a couple of ways. I would not expect the pod thing to return even with 12.

The Ally 400 at Nashville Super Speedway is missing. Surprising since William Byron has done fairly well there.

I think you can get a mix of feelings from fans here: https://csnbbs.com/thread-895795.html

Looks like some didn't like that they used different days for those games outside of the normal schedule format. And people seemed to not like having the dates set from the beginning. And on the other side of the ledger it didn't really seem to make a big dent in our RPI/NET/at-large situation, but I thought then (and still think) that it could have eventually under the right circumstances.

I know that was a joke, but tourists should know that from 5th3rd Stadium to AMS is a full hour by car, and that’s really if there’s no traffic drama at all. Probably best to plan on 90 minutes.
