Somebody (UD fans) tell me about the mascot. Is there some controversy over mascot/logo change? I tought I read some fans complaining about new vs. old. And one was saying he hopes UD changes their helmets so no one will confuse them with Michigan. Boy, I hope that change doesn’t happen. And is a Blue Hen really a hen or a rooster? Is it weird for guys teams to be named after girl chickens? What’s a Fighting Blue Hen?

And, are we gonna go ahead and link UD to our message board?

Not a UD fan/alum, but “Blue Hen” is the nickname of a variant of the American Gamecock with pale blue-gray feathers, not referring to the gender of the actual chicken itself.

Delaware has a nickname of the “Blue Hen State” because soldiers from there in the American revolution would bring the blue-colored chickens with them and host cockfights between battles. The gamecocks got a reputation for fighting very fiercely against each other, which led to the soldiers from Delaware who fought valiantly in battle being compared to them. The State of Delaware actually named the strain the official state bird in 1939.

I think it's time to begin an original helmet design instead of copying Michigans helmet. I'm sure your arts department can come up with something original. just saying

Was going to mention its Princetons helmet/ Differenet color but they started it.

Michigan has an alum who was president and he was also on the football team. Delaware is just a bunch of copycats all around.

MT may be the only D-1 Blue Raiders, but Lindsey Wilson College (NAIA) in Columbia, KY is also the Blue Raiders.

It’s just another one of his tall tales as he never played Fr football at UD

Whether he ever played in a game or not, he was on the freshman team briefly before dropping off because his grades sucked (parents told him no football with a 1.9 GPA). Then talked about trying to play again but according to him, decided to travel on weekends to visit the woman who would become his wife.

30 in the pic certainly looks goofy enough to be Biden.

EDIT: Also, it seems like 30 is Biden, but that pic was from high school.

I always wonder why folks lie about stuff like that. It can be fact-checked, and, frankly, does it really matter ?

I saw where he talked about playing against an Ohio MAC school on the campaign trail in that state, and talked about beating them. He could not have been on that team, because freshmen were not allowed to play with the varsity at that time.
