Where are they getting 14 million? Are they expecting a PAC settlement? That's a lot of money for one year. And they have to do it again in '25 most likely unless they join full time.

The $14m might just be the cost of this many "buy games" on short notice

How does the scheduling math work? There are 12 MWC teams, so that only fills out 6 games on the schedule for Wazzu and Oregon St, right?
After WSU/OSU play each other, that still only adds up to 7 games, and they are trying to fill 9 conference game slots. So what will they do with the remaining 2 slots?

They probably expect to get that from a TV contract. That's only $7 million apiece.

As it said, they have 3 ooc scheduled and WSU has UW and OSU is finalizing a deal to play Oregon. 6+3+1+ each other gets them to 11. They could pick up a 2nd FCS game or play each other twice. Or maybe find some other FBS team. Army is trying to drop a bunch of games.

WSU has Portland State, @SDSU, SJSU, Washington, MWC 7, OSU
OSU has Idaho State, @Boise St, Purdue, Oregon (????), MWC 7, WSU

Wazzu at least doesn't actually have 3 OOC games scheduled yet: https://fbschedules.com/2024-washington-...-schedule/ They have 2: Portland St and Washington.
So they still have a ways to go to fill out their schedule on short notice.

Oregon State is already scheduled to play at Boise State next year out-of-conference. Washington State is scheduled OOC at San Diego State and home against San Jose State.
So presumably this will be outside of the 6 teams that will play them as part of the PAC2/MWC agreement.
And that means Boise State, San Diego State, and San Jose State will all play both Oregon State and Washington State (one through the scheduling agreement and one already scheduled OOC).

So MWC going to 7 conference games. Trying to maybe make things easier to have a better team at the end of the season for the playoffs maybe.

So it's stated that the previously scheduled MWC OOC opponents are separate from the 7-game scheduling agreement here? I missed that. That means eight or nine MWC teams for the PAC2.
Have Ore/UW not filled out their OOCs in '24, or will they just buy out a previously scheduled game? Not sure why they are still scheduling the PAC2 unless it is part of the settlement.

Apple cup is continuing for the immediate future and it is expected the Civil War will also
Bedlam is the biggest rivalry joining the realignment graveyard and that was by choice of OK State as Oklahoma said they wanted to continue it

Try your link again. They've long had SDSU and San Jose. It did say in the article that those games already scheduled will continue. Maybe you were assuming that was part of the 6.

The thing is, SEC's Mizzou becomes the likely odd man out. Do they get Arkansas? Then who does LSU get with A&M taken off the board? Okie St doesn't need the hassle OOC. The Big 12 SoS is likely good enough most years to qualify as a one loss At-Large. Two loss may be more difficult.
Plus, the Big 12 needs a game for UCF and some of these other island teams, like CU and ISU potentially.

I imagine A&M-Texas/Arkansas-LSU/Oklahoma-Mizzou for now.

This just seems so unecessary to me. Just merge the 2 conferences in 2024. Work it out for crying out loud.
I hope this is just a temporary plan for 2024 until the 10 PAC schools drop their claims to PAC Assets. Then they can officially merge and WSU and OSU can keep all the PAC assets.

2 years allows them to ride out the rest of the CFP contract as P5 schools plus get PAC tournament credits. An on boarding process into life in the G5 as opposed to dropping into it cold turkey
