I have a strong feeling, this craziness, is going to move fast into having the players become employees and sign contracts just like coaches with buyout fees if they leave.

Heck, I can picture some schools trying to tap into a %-age of their rookie contract.

If they go that far, we need salary caps too.

I was reading that in past two years only 54% of those entering the Portal as scholarship players landed with a scholarship elsewhere

I'm just waiting for all the new IRS employees to start digging into the unpaid taxes from NIL money. Great time to be a CPA to help players get tax liens removed from their shiny new cars.

Good to see that everyone here is on board with the NIL, paying players, transfer portal, etc., etc. etc. College football gone amuck.

Nah, you obviously haven't met Shere yet. You guys are kindred spirits.

I heard he was looking for an intern.

Yes I saw that. I wonder if they would add that to scholarships. Or if schools would no longer offer scholarships and just sign NILs with players?

Our Defensive Player of the Year, Trey Moore, has entered the portal. Lost our best defensive player. Had around 14 sacks and didn't play all of the games. NIL baby. It sucks. NIL is like our current society. Billionaires, Millionaires and then the rest of us.

Yes, that hurts. It’s now up to the coach to not only recruit and build a player but also retain him.

But with over 1000 players in Portal so far I’m sure UTSA can get a good player from another school

Good Luck

Definitely possible. Our top corner came from Sam Houston. It'll be hard to replace Trey Moore's production though.

Chandler Rogers in the portal. We now have exactly 3 returning starters from our offense this year. This is insane

I imagine anyone who can find a life raft at ECU will be leaving as soon as possible. If Houston survives this, I'll be amazed, but stranger things have happened.

Survives to next season? That's basically already happened AD just had a presser today saying Houston's back.

He may actually be a good coach, but in this environment if you keep losing your best players you are in a no-win situation.
