When I was in DC a few weeks ago, the police were handing out free air tags (or a knockoff equivalent) to place on your car. Seems like a good idea.

A garage helps tremendously.

That would require someone to followup on locating the vehicle. I'm not convinced the police would, and I'm not sure citizens should.

How about no consequence for shooting someone for attempting to steal a car. the more real danger for criminals, the less likely they are to try.. and occasionally some thieves will just be taken out

They did.

The idea behind it was that a man without his horse out in the elements is as good as dead. So stealing someone's horse was, in effect, killing him indirectly.

This right here. You can shoot them breaking in your home. Doesn’t the castle doctrine extend to vehicles? I also vote to allow people to run over protestors blocking the road without repercussions. You’re dumb enough to stand in traffic, suffer the consequences. Not everyone cares about your dumb protest, so go find a park or sidewalk.

Proposal is to mandate them in all new cars. Some higher end cars already have them.
