I always thought Fresno State had a solid athletics program but mostly based on some football success.

JMU’s budget is 20% more than Fresno State. And that is before football has fully ramped up to FBS.
When you look at G5 conferences and program budgets, there are only a few that JMU has to catch up to and surpass.
San Diego State
Air Force
UNLV
Memphis
South Florida

In a few years after the FBS build up, JMU will be spending at the highest level of G5 and expecting to win at the highest level of G5.
In terms of the big daddy football, the Dukes need to elevate above 62 other teams for the all important CFP berths. The good news is that many of these programs are funded closer to FCS programs than they are P5 FBS programs.
The runway is there for JMU to keep a magnificent run much like they did in FCS.

Fresno State hoops? Seems like the definition of mid-major which is a great spot for JMU hoops to be not only competing, but winning their fair share.
