So many easy looks for CSUN, Chicago State can’t run an offense, and they were beat on fast breaks due to not getting back on D numerous occasions.
Extremely frustrating loss.
Chicago had so many advantages in this game, like a huge difference in turnovers, but couldn’t turn that into a win.
Yeah, whatever the defense was doing, I’m unclear exactly how any team can give up that many 2 foot shots in the paint. A few off an errant rebound or a deflected ball just happen, but you aren’t going to beat anybody if you give up this many.
CSUN wasn’t phased by the Chicago zone like USI was. Chicago looked good at times on defense when they had their best 5 on the floor, and not very good when they had even 1 out. And that’s kind of the story of this team-it’s not deep. And while its easier to have someone like Cardet carry you on offense, these easy baskets Northridge got were from defensive failures of someone who wasn’t where they should have been. I’d suspect some of these kids haven’t played much zone in high school.
But hopefully one of the bench guys is going to get into the rotation and over the next few games become a solid contributor. Even if they just have one solid bench guard, and one big, that can get them thru.
Man, that 3 point shooting was terrible too. And they were really getting a lot of good looks. A vast majority were shots that should have been taken. But they didn’t hit. Just a few more 3’s and Chicago might have breezed past this team.
I didn’t expect this many games like this. It’s early in the season, but nearly all of these guys are back from last year. I’d hoped to hit the ground running a little more, and not look like there are so many things to still work on.
