Wondering if Wes is thinking about redshirting him this season. He’s got a lot of dudes in front of him. Not sure he’ll get meaningful minutes this season.
that puzzles me about Rayveon. I seen zero articles of him being redshirted.
One of the most high profile recruits in years. Was Wes asked about it in the postgame presser? With no explanation we can only speculate about injury, disciplinary action, academic concerns, etc.. Let's see if he's out there Friday night before jumping to conclusions.

I feel like the simplest answer is that Wes has veteran wings ahead of Rayvon in the rotation in Newman, Simas, and even Reed and this is a team that still needs to learn to gel (especially if Aziz/Reynolds are out for a while). Plus, while I don't think anyone thought UC was going to lose to UIC, it wasn't a 20-30 pt blow out and they kept it fairly close for most of the second half. I think we'll see more Rayvon in those types of games down the stretch but limited action during any game where Newman, Simas, and Reed are clicking or aren't in major foul trouble.

It's hard when you're not playing. Especially when everyone knows how you good of a player you can be. Each one of these guys is a great player, but that's the difference. At this level, everyone was great in high school but now the competition is so much greater. So what are you going to do? You have to work hard.

Reed didn't do anything against UIC that made me think he should warrant a spot in the rotation going forward.
Lucky for us, our next opponent, Detroit Mercy, looks horrible. I'd be surprised if Rayvon didn't get a good bit of burn on Friday.

Definitely don't disagree that Reed was a bit of a disappointment against UIC. It feels like his development hasn't accelerated at the same rate as his classmate Skillings. My point is that him simply having a year in the system gives him a leg up over Rayvon at this early stage. I wouldn't put it past Rayvon to overtake Reed as the season goes on but I think Wes simply went with more of the known commodity in Reed over Rayvon in game 1.

Reed appears to be one of those tweener guys whose skills match up with the 3 spot but perhaps whose athleticism doesn't exactly match up.
It is crazy how much depth and skill we have at that position right now.

Hmm. Hadn't thought of that. That's actually a really good analogy.
