I realize that's twice as long. But I still wish MTSU had also balked at the CUSA GOR.

Come on, MTSU - stick with your principles!

What I heard was MAC was 20 years and CUSA was 5. It was a no brainer.

Actually, what I heard is ESPN offered a 10-year extension of the current MAC deal, meaning out to 2036-37 from 2026-27. This would be a total of 15 years from the time two years ago when the offer was on the table with a GOR attached to it.

So... 10 or 15 years compared to five in CUSA. IF UMASS or Delaware turn down the MAC--that would certainly be a factor.

Tops, the deal that was presented to the MAC by ESPN (Burke Magnus) two years ago was with the addition of MTSU and WKU. Remember, as was noted in an interview with Magnus, ESPN loves rivalries.

Yes. That's right. Just trying to predict MAC/UMASS/UD hypothetical GOR.

One difference is that as a member of CUSA, MTSU could have voted against the CUSA GOR. Or made it even shorter.

Which we'd have all appreciated.

That would not really work very well since they aren't going anywhere and you aren't either.

So then how does it not really work well? If nobody is leaving, you don't need a GOR.

You are a bit flawed in your thinking as usual. Just because you aren't going anywhere does not mean nobody else is. When you have a conference that just collapsed, you might want five years of stability or at least some money if somebody gets called up.

Eventually? Sounds very long term.

The MAC would probably need a partner for UMASS.

"Rumor" is that MAC turned down UD.

Indeed, you might want to check your sources in Bowling Green.

IMHO WKU is staying with CUSA. The recent improvements in cooperation and potential along with being Southern based will keep us here. Media deal money is close to the same at this point.

03-lmfao Western is not going to pay the Grant of Rights penalty to take a demotion to the MAC.
