RE: Maine shooting
My advice is to not browse social media and read comment sections (in particular, the Twitter blue checks with twenty American flags and bible icons in their bios).

It's really disturbing, the lust for these sorts of weapons. Nothing fazes them. I think for many, their own kids could get mowed down by an AR-15 at a shopping mall and they'll still defend the free-for-all ownership of them.

Yea I was recently pondering that. Would anything at all change their minds? I think if that happened their answer would be more guns.

It sure seems that way.

RE: Maine shooting
What caused him to do that? I know, I know, he's crazy etc etc -- but that's beside the point. We can't say "Oh, they're crazy" -- that'd be the answer to everyone doing a mass shooting or trying to do a mass shooting (or not even that 'mass').

GF cheated on him? People at his bar hang-out driving him nuts over time?

"The problem is the human heart, it’s not guns, it’s not the weapons," according to the new Speaker of the House. So it should be an easy fix: Heart transplants.

Oh, is that all? Easy fix. Just have to change fundamental human behavior and we'll be all set.

I hate it when people say things like this, and I used to be one of them, but the following analogy perfectly sums up why repeating this true statement is unproductive: if my kid hits another kid with a stick I correctly know that my kid and not the stick is the problem, but I'm still taking the stick away.

In this specific case, there were opportunities to "take the stick away" with existing laws, but the people with the opportunity to do something didn't act.

LOL

Actually, maybe heart "implant" is more accurate.
