Without looking it up, I’m pretty sure UH and Rice are further East than Sam, BUT this is Far West Texas vs Deep East Texas. At around 750 miles it is the furthest distance between two in-state FBS programs.

Agree, it’s peculiar that they’re featured so much on ESPN2.

And that’s no slight towards UTEP. Of anyone in this conference, I’m anticipating seeing the Miners in Huntsville the most. A name brand, in-state school with an established FBS, and big time D1 athletics, tradition and brand, not to mention a dedicated fanbase. Hosting a school that has long competed in the upper echelons of CFB, formerly with P5 schools, brings validity to Sam.

I can understand ESPN’s line of thinking surrounding UTEP. But we both suck right now and nobody is going to be at this game. Bad showcase for the conference.

Its really something, they could flex these games easily after the 1st week of October or at least by 3rd and 4th weeks. There is a huge difference between ESPN 2 and the U. The U camera people miss 3 or 4 plays each game, must be the 20th string camera guys doing the U games.

Missing plays would be a positive in most UTEP games. The mid-week games in Oct are all going to be on linear tv so until UTEP rights the ship, if they ever do, assign their games to the U.

Saturday you can celebrate Army’s AAC membership by watching two teams that lost by a combined 125-0 last week.

A UNT fan cares more about this garbage than the fans of the schools.

All I care about St this point I'd the Fire Dimel watch. Hopefully this game signifies the end of his tenure and UTEP can bring in a new competent HC.

SHSU probably wins IMO.

It's hard not to root for Shsu as I want our coach to finally get fired. I doubt that he would be, you know, best buddies and all with the AD.

Just goes to show you how razor thin the margins are in college football. We were all set up to make the playoffs, but we lost our focus for one quarter at FIU and now our hopes are dashed.
