Too funny… I think AK uses these scrimmages to evaluate players in various scenarios…

That will come after loss 1, maybe loss 2. We have people who think our non conference is a joke and returning 4 players total shouldn’t be any issue for the staff. I expect things to go well with this group, but I sure don’t expect it to be immediate.

There's a lot of UAB fans/alumni in Atlanta that would be thrilled with that matchup

They simply refuse to play us. Screw them Play GSU HH. Their new building is very nice and we could have a large crowd there. A huge step up from their cracker box on the third floor.

As someone living in Atlanta, Lets play GSU and Ga Tech in all sports.

I decided a few years ago that it no longer makes since to be angry at other nearby teams for refusing to play us when we dodge Samford in our own city.

In most cases of ignoring close proximity matchups, it’s either p5 vs g5 or high major vs mid major.

Playing Samford in football is an FCS matchup. AAMU and ASU are half a state away and bring a bigger crowd. No reason to play Samford. Hoops, Samford is a low major, not a mid major. They’re currently hitting their ceiling. It’s not enough to move the needle in tickets sales for us. Same with Jax State/Troy/USA/Swac hoops matchups. They’ve turned us down two years in a row.

Give me the Furmans, Drakes, Bradley’s over them.

In spite of what people say, we are not a basketball state. That’s why there’s no benefit to having 8-9 instate matchups in nonconference. Not a draw, nor beneficial to SOS.

I meant in the scrimmage. If they were willing to actually play us in basketball and would be forced to play the game, I’m all for it. But until that happens, we shouldn’t do a damn thing for them on the secret/exhibition side.
