We need that from our coaches.

100% agreed.

I'll take this over Milquefield.

He is definitely a potential liability with his inability to control his temper.

This is the kind of guy we need to represent our brand. Completely in control of himself. Personally, I thought his appeal to "save me you stupid whore" was a nice touch.

We disagree completely on the quality of men necessary to lead. Fair enough. UAB best hope this man-child won't cause further embarrassment for the program, and he's fortunate he wasn't charged with assault when he pushed around that kid on the sidelines.

Almost forgot, he's currently 2-5. Nice record to boot.

Dilfer Battle for the Bones Presser
There is a difference between yelling to yell and yelling to make a point. I think any of us who played sports can tell you that.

If Dilfer makes you blush, you had better not watch the Alabama sideline. I don't know how some of Saban's coaches don't cry

Fire can be useful only when under control.

If necessary, we can do better than an unproven, combustible coach with a proclivity toward unfavorable publicity.

Not at all. I simply see things differently and expect better. If you're going to use Alabama football as the standard for ethics and behavior, that's telling.

Really? Educate us. I lettered in football, baseball, and basketball in high school. At times there was plenty of yelling, never was it at the level evidenced by Dilfer. He's a loose cannon and has little self-control. Not good attributes for a leader of men.

As a former athlete, I agree. Some of my coaches who made the most impact on me , in a very positive way, were similar to Dilfer, with regard to these outbursts.

Tell that Nick Saban, Billy Martin, Greg Popovich, Vince Lombardi and many other great coaches.

We get it. You identify with and admire people who default to abusive behavior. The leaders who I've looked up to knew how to manage their emotions and keep it together. Ruling through fear is one way to do it, but not the only way and is a weakness that shouldn't be celebrated.

Every team has been using Alabama as the standard for the past 10 years. I would be careful putting coaches on a pedestal for their ethics and behavior.

Saying that one doesn't endorse, condone, or respect the behavior of a single coach is a far cry from putting any coach on a pedestal. Did you actually read the thread and the posts therein?

I guess I should've said be careful judging coaches by their ethics and behavior. Some of your favorites might shock you with what they have done and said. College football and basketball is so high dollar, high pressure now that most (if not all) coaches will do anything to win.
