RE: Hall's future
Orgeron? Come on guys. He is absolutely terrible.
Even if we win out (we wont), he should be fired! I say we still lose every remaining game.

We need an exciting hire next time. One that outs butts in the seats and gets the fan base hyped up.... I say call Ed Oregeron
There may be monetary reasons not to fire him until the end of the season. Some contracts force you to pay even more for letting someone go early. It may be better financially to wait until December 1st.

I seem to remember we had donors that donated for EJ's buyout... I'm not sure what Hall's buyout is, but I can't remember did his contract get extended?
If anything, he could be in the last year of it and it may be that his seat is hot and he's got to make staffing changes..
I believe we have the talent, but the coaching is not there.
Do we have the donors to buy that out? When EJ was here, we'd grown the fanbase to over 30,000 a game. We've averaged under 15,000 all year, despite the reported numbers. The stands are empty. A lot of donors from back then have been given the finger and stopped supporting the program. So where's the money coming from?
And I don't see talent on the field. If there is some, it's been uncoached for so long that it's devolved.

You've always got a lot to say, but nothing to back it up... When the hell were we averaging over 30K in 2012?
And say what you want, but 15K is ridiculous. We're nowhere close to where I want us to be, but we're bringing low-mid 20's still (in the 1Q).

RE: Hall's future
We averaged over 30k throughout the Fedora years. We sold out Johnson’s first home game. My growth comment was pointing toward the growth leading up to the hiring of Johnson, which is definitely true.
And I’ve seen the number of people in the stands. It’s embarrassing how far we’ve fallen in a little over a decade.

Place a HUGE “TrustMark Field” sign on the 49 side of MMRoberts and pat him on the back on the way out.

3 bad in a row? You think Monken was a bad hire? Have you completely forgotten about Ellis Johnson?

RE: Hall's future
gdunn posted the article with Will Hall's contract and in it there's the following clause:
"EXTENSION. This Contract shall be automatically extended for one additional year on March 1, 2022 unless either party gives written notice on or before February 28, 2022."
This clause is idiotic from the standpoint of the USM Athletic Department. I'm guessing Will Hall had an agent who managed to turn an understandable 4-year contract into an almost automatic 5-year contract. Who was going to terminate an automatic 1-year extension after Will Hall's first season? At 800K a year, Will Hall certainly wasn't going to do it. And it's a lot nicer to know you're going to clear 4 million dollars than possibly 3.2 million. And no matter how bad Hall's first season might be, it was only natural that it would be explained away as Will Hall "rebuilding" the team. And that's what happened with a 3-9 record which is hardly impressive. So now we're in a situation where his contract is at least in effect through the 2025 season. BUT, someone said earlier that he received an extension after the bowl win last year. Can anyone confirm whether this is true or not? If it is, that means his current contract is in effect through the 2026 season. That's a financial disaster for the program if Hall is under contract through that date.
My gut feeling is that no matter the state of his contract, Will Hall will return in 2024. I think his wholesome good ole' boy persona will have enough people saying, "You can't fire such a nice, kind, wholesome man. Winning isn't everything!"

At this point, you (Jeremy McClain) cannot let Hall even pick his own staff next year. Jeremy will have to say who stays and goes and will select / find an OC and DC for next year. Hall will have to shut up and let them run things.

I think the contract is done in '25, the extension in question was the one given last year not at the bowl if I'm not mistaken.
Maybe I'm wrong.

I wonder if Hall took back play calling in the 4th.. That's when the offense seemed to have stalled.. Maybe I'm wrong..
The fumble on the goal line and the two missed FGs hurt.

That facemask when we sacked the QB to give them 1st and 10 (and a TD 2 plays later) rather than 4th and 27 killed us too.

RE: Hall's future
I do wonder with the two play callers. It did seem like we would revert back to the old style system of run up the middle or throw way down field on the sidelines being our plays one drive.
Then all sorts of different slant routes, throws over the middle. Options. etc. on other drives.
Maybe it was the case of one play caller calling a drive one way and then the other on a different drive?

Couple of calls like that gave new life to App State..
I saw some ticky stuff get called when App State was on a 3rd and needed yardage for a 1st to make the game interesting.. Whatever, I'm biased.

Why does it seem like the middle of the field is off limits for our passing game about 90% of the time? Then I watch other games and they have easy short throws over the middle. We're always trying to connect on difficult touch passes along the sideline.

I would've thought he'd gotten some PT...
Crawford came in the Red Zone, from the touches he got, he seems to be quick and I'm hoping he gives us some mobility in the QB position in the years to come.

RE: Hall's future
Does the win alter the employment path going forward?
What if Hall wins out the rest of the year, does that change keep him or fire?
I'm not sure that any scenario changes my opinion. The crowd Saturday seems to confirm that the damage is done, and a change needs to happen. Am I wrong on the crowd? I wasn't there, but on TV, and pictures I've seen, it looked horrible.
Say he wins out and we keep him...He starts out 1-4 next year and we can him mid season.... What kind of damage does that do to the program? We can't handle much more of all this BS.
I feel like he needs to go at the end of the year
