There a a lot of bad arguments made for former President Trump’s candidacy in 2024, but this one might be the worst, TB4E. Think about the logic here:

—> A lot of Benedict Arnold detractors forget that he was a hero of the Battle of Saratoga.

—> A lot of Bin Laden detractors forget that he was a staunch U.S. ally during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

—> A lot of Judas detractor forget that he was a zealous supporter of Jesus before selling out for 30 pieces of silver.

I realize that the Reeee Squad has stopped reading at this point, and is going into convulsions of rage that I have just compared their man-God to a bunch of villains. Nothing I can do about that.

But for those still capable of follows my point, Donald Trump’s heroic defeat of Hillary in 2016 is not a lifetime pass from criticism. It is possible to honor him for that singular triumph and still point out that he is bad - - not Benedict Arnold, bin Laden or Judas-level bad, but still bad - - for America in 2024.

Ross Perot personally torpedoed Bush 1's 1992 reelection effort. Perot took 18% of the vote, virtually all of it from Bush. GWB ended up with 38% and then Governor Clinton garnered 43% and became President in an upset.

It will be fascinating to see how many voters from BOTH the Trump and Biden* camps RFK takes.

And, hell yes - all three major candidates should be in the debates. Assuming Biden* is not removed from Office in the next 10 months and he actually accepts the Democratic nomination at the United Center in Chicago in late August 2024, I fully expect his camp to agree to ONE debate about 3 weeks prior to the election. It will be amazing if Biden* agrees to TWO. There is no way his team will allow or agree to THREE.

The idea of Biden being the nominee a year from now honestly feels impossible to me. But just for the sake of argument, let’s suppose it happens. Agreed that Biden will not do more than 1 debate, and his handlers will seek out every possible excuse — a new outbreak, a refusal to share the stage with Kennedy, a refusal to “amplify” Trump’s “insurrectionist” statements, etc. — to avoid even 1.

If that happens, Trump and Kennedy should hold their own 1:1 debates, with or without the blessing of the LWV. Put an empty lectern on stage for Biden and then let the 2 of them go at it. There is precedent for this: Reagan and John Anderson held a 1:1 debate in 1980 while Carter boycotted. It would be a boss move for both Trump and Kennedy, and would underline Biden’s frailty and semi-senility.

Another boss move for Kennedy, in particular, would be to have a 1:1 debate with Cornel West, the likely Green Party nominee. Mainstream media would try to ignore that but make no mistake: that would generate a lot of public interest and elevating West’s candidacy would absolutely hurt Biden’s chances.
