1988 MAC Champion team at homecoming
I had wondered if there were any plans to honor the 1988 Championship team for the 35th anniversary, and today we get an email that it will happen at homecoming.

That was the year we started attending all the Bronco games including the bowl game in Fresno. Lots of good memories.

Maybe the AD will hit up Terry Crews to fund the project to close in the endzone 02-13-banana

We also received that email in addition to the discount ticket offer. Discount tickets for homecoming because ticket sales are so bad? Maybe this administration should take a long look in the mirror -- it might not be simply wins and losses keeping your alumni and fans away.

Even in 2016 we had trouble selling most games out (though i think HC was a sellout). It's a symptom of the day and age we're in . WMU isn't a football destination, and now that every single game is streamed around the world, you don't HAVE to drive to Kalamazoo to see the team play. And personally, regardless of how cheap they made it, and if every game was on a saturday, even I wouldn't make the drive every saturday.

The late 90s/early 00s were the pinnacle of home attendance: Very good teams, no streaming or ESPNU type channels yet, and perhaps most importantly, the peak of student enrollment before the steady decline hit. Two of three components aren't returning.

Looking back it's amazing how we crammed 36K into that stadium for Indiana State.

The last sold-out game was the Michigan State Game in 2015. There were no games even close to being sold out during the 2016 season, although there were a few 25+ crowds. I think the days of a sold-out Waldo Stadium are unfortunately long gone, unless someone like MSU came to town again.

That was an amazing thing to witness. Some of those games during that era against Marshal were also big time fun with the full crowd.

I also got the e-mail about the Flash Sale for cheap end zone tickets today, but there is nothing posted on any of the WMU social media sites that I can see. I already have tickets for the game, but it seems odd to me that if they wanted to sell this deal that they would not post the flash sale to the general public on their Facebook and other sites. What is the point of having a cheap ticket deal if no one knows about it. Weird.......

Looking at the WMU ticket web site, there are still plenty of tickets available on the side and the end zones are practically empty.

CMU had over 28K in Smelly-Shorts last weekend. Kalamazoo is a much better location for most people than Mt. Pleasant. So, they're doing something right.

I don't believe this administration gives a d@mn what people think. Montgomery didn't even get any acknowledgement from the crowd when introduced last game -- at least that I witnessed. This tells me all I need to know.

I went to that game. I thought all the home games would be like that.

Why did they wait until a week before the game to announce they were honoring the 88 team? Shouldn't that of been in place before the start of the season?

I saw it via the WMU Athletics fb page, surprising it's not shared on main WMU or Football pages though

Right? Pretty disrespectful.
