32 team BIG and SEC
I saw a post on my Facebook feed where someone had shared a post from Twitter about a 32 team BIG and SEC. I didn't save it unfortunately or I would have posted it here. I'll try to find it and post it.

RE: 32 team BIG and SEC
32 each?

Power 70 minus 6: Boston College, Oregon St, SMU, Wake Forest, Washington St
> Notre Dame remains independent scheduling a minimum of 5 B1G schools and 5 SEC schools each season. Notre Dame gets TV rights to its home games and the conferences get TV rights to their home games.

B1G
Atlantic: Duke, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Virginia
Central: Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Utah, Wisconsin
Midwest: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan St, Northwestern, Ohio St, Penn St, Purdue
Pacific: Arizona, Arizona St, California, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Washington

SEC
East: Central Florida, Cincinnati, Clemson, Louisville, North Carolina, North Carolina St, Virginia Tech
South: Arkansas, LSU, Mississippi, Mississippi St, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt
Southeast: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida St, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee
Southwest: Baylor, BYU, Houston, Iowa St, Kansas St, Oklahoma St, TCU, Texas Tech

Some of the schools will not be invited to the Big 10, and some of the schools will not be invited to the SEC.

RE: 32 team BIG and SEC
Still doing divisions huh?

If you’re going to apply a number then a group of 6 playing 5 games vs each other fulfills the NCAA requirement for FBS scheduling within a conference. So I’ll go thirty in each with each having three revenue tiers.

B1G Black:
- OSU, UM, ND, PSU, USC, UO.
B1G LTD:
- East: MSU, Purdue, IL, WI, IU, NW
- West: UW, UCLA, NEB, MN, IO, Furd
B1G Basic:
- East: GT, Rutgers, MD, Duke, Pitt, Cuse
- West: Cal, UU, CU, AZ, ASU, KU

SEC Black
- UF, UGA, Bama, UT, OU, FSU
SEC LTD
- East: UNC, KY, TN, SC, MIA, Clem
- West: A&M, Miss, MSU, Aub, LSU, Ark
SEC Basic:
- East: NCSt, VT, LV, Vandy, Mizzou, UVA
- West: TCU, Bay, OSU, KSU, Mizzou, TTU

Play the 5 in your group then everything else is a la carte. I’d have the Black from the SEC and B1G play 3 games vs each other.

CFP autobids
- B1G Black: 2
- B1G LTD: 2
- B1G basic: 1
- SEC Black: 2
- SEC LTD: 2
- SEC basic: 1
- At Large: 2

Consolidation. Again, this is my iteration of the list that I found that someone else made.

This has two advantages. First, it makes some semblance of sense geographically. Second, it keeps almost all of the current P4 programs in the fold.

But it has no chance at happening, ever, for reasons too numerous to set forth here.

True. I even swapped Maryland and Missouri between the BIG and SEC, but I left them where they are because there would be people who would say that would never happen.

I like it!!! But I don't know about tOSU and Michigan only playing every other year.

Also, I think the UNC/Duke pod should be with the VT/UVA, UK/Louisville and Clemson/USC-e pods. It leaves a whole in the footprint otherwise. And the division with 4 Florida and 4 North Carolina Schools is mis-aligned. All they have in common is that they have 4 schools in their respective states. And do you need 4 NC schools?

My problem is Rutgers being in the SEC. They should be swapped out for West Virginia. You don't need all four North Carolina, but having stay together keeps their rivalries alive.

I can see NC State as a way to get UNC to join.
I can see Wake Forest as a partial SEC member because Wake is a very good Olympic sports brand. I can see Oklahoma State as a hoops desperation pick if neither Kansas nor Duke available. Same thing with Louisville, IMO. While WVU has definitely reformed their image somewhat, some of their actions vs SEC teams left a very bad taste in the SEC's mouth, IMO. Baylor left a bad taste in the SEC's mouth as well, IMO. Think UConn-ACC.

RE: 32 team BIG and SEC
The maximum for the upper 2 should be 20 programs each - and I wouldn't mind both not expanding further at this point. Then a single entity of up to 30 programs, depending, that consolidate the other power conferences below the upper two. IOW, an autonomy group of 70 programs in total. We need to have a real cutoff line. FBS is already scraping the bottom of the barrel, and, especially, when people here think there are too many weak programs in the autonomy group, which, ironically, strengthens my argument.

Although I would be fine with PtC's scenario above.

I think you are much more likely to see four conferences of 18 teams each, rather than two of 32.
