The New Era of College Football
In the next era of college football there will be 6 twenty four team conferences. My source passed this incredible information to me. Wow! Those with connections are saying expansion definitely isn’t finished and you will be caught completely surprised at the directions taken.

Whew -- thanks for heads up! Now I don't have to waste time reading realignment boards for the next 10 years.

Poor Western Michigan though :-(

Man, you’re so welcome. Glad I could be of valuable service. I thought I’d go ahead and get the word out so folks can start planning vacations and stuff that will coincide with games.

At least it keeps the power scales balanced and well as eye balls and regional matchups on a national scale. Make sense?

But wait, there’s more. Look at the ease of scheduling based on regional schools. And it works for the “Big Boys” who want to schedule easy homecoming wins and extra home games.

What could be better. Wait! Before you say anything, I’ll give you the answer. Nothing, simply nothing could be better. Change my mind. 04-cheers

More regionality would be great. We’re getting further and further away from that. I see the new era with an additional class being added to the college football FBS structure. As more group of five schools make it to the next level, tension and unease will set in due to fear of their “power” product becoming diluted with lesser G5 schools. So then the narrative will transition to the Super Powers or Super Two, and the Power Two or P2, and finally the G5 still.

I believe there is a clear delineation above.
Super 2 - SEC - BIG10
Power 2 - Big Pac 12 - ACC
Group 2 - Sunbelt - MAC

The questions are how do we make that sustainable and where does Hawaii go?
Also, it would be nice if each of the 50 states were represented by at least one FBS team competing at the highest level of college football. Left out are Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island.

Alaska and Vermont don't have football teams. Maine, New Hampshire and Rhode Island are in the FCS, but I don't think they'd be willing to make the investments needed to jump to the FBS.

No Delaware? But I just read that UDel to the MAC was gaining steam. Oh, there it is in the Sun Belt.

03-lmfao Could you imagine football games in Alaska? I hope there’s a dome! But if the games are outside could you imagine the homefield advantage? No one would ever go play there. 03-lmfao

They'd have to play in a dome. There'd be no way to play. I'm surprised Hawaii isn't going with a domed stadium in case it comes a knock down drag out storm over the islands.

Delaware and Missouri State would be well paired in the Sunbelt if geography wasn't an issue. I hear that if Delaware joins the MAC, UMass would consider rejoining the MAC full time.

The forecast high in Anchorage for the next 10 days is mid 40s to low 50s.

Divisional formats like Great Lakes just have to stop now. You can't have 4 Power teams in one grouping while putting all layups in Atlantic and Prairie groups.

I think those other divisional teams would beg to differ. And nobody should shy away from competition. Play and beat who is in front of you. You have to eventually anyway. If that’s the case in your mind, why not just cut to the chase and only have Michigan, Ohio St., Notre Dame, and whoever else you were refering to play a four game playoff for the BIG title each year since none of the other teams measure up?

The state playoffs begin this weekend.

UAA could play the first six games of the season at home, and the last 6 on the road.

Mike: I think it would take millions to develop those schools to S2/P2/G2 level. Plus, you'd need a team of hypnotists to change the minds of their college presidents/administrators.

Divisional formats like Great Lakes just have to stop now. You can't have 4 Power teams in one grouping while putting all layups in Atlantic and Prairie groups.

But how about getting the entire band back together as a Pure Prairie League?

Eh eh! I see what you did there! 03-lmfao That was a good one.

Let’s see what would the theme aongs to these conferences be?
SEC- “We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions” (Queen)
BIG- “I’m Bad, I’m Nationwide” (ZZ Top)
Big12- “Kickstart My Heart” (Motley Crew)
ACC- “Kids In America” (Kim Wilde)
Sunbelt- “I Can See Clearly Now” (Johnny Nash)
MAC- “I’m Mr. White Christmas (Snow Miser Song) (Dick Shawn)

You're grouping it by region but they just happen to be skewed considerably. So you're saying that 4-5 Power teams should miss the playoffs because they have to play each other but Western teams just coast? Seems like that's the definition of shying away from competition.

Your last sentence is a better idea than your random setup.

The BIG is currently set up in divisions by region, and similar to what I have. Should the BIG10 West just go ahead and forfeit their games to the East just because there’s a perception difference? And a name isn’t going to make you a power team, results are.
