That is a devastating loss for Sam Houston State. Jacksonville State is the better team but seemed unprepared in the first half. I thought Rich Rod should have called timeout earlier on that last Sam Houston touchdown. Couldn't believe Smothers led that last TD drive 75 yards in like a minute or something, and got the 2 pt conversion. Fun night of football!

Exciting finish! Congrats to Gamecock fans on the OT win and the comeback. SHSU fans should be encouraged by the offensive output.

Crowd photos tonight

Tough loss for the Bearkats. It ended up being an entertaining game in the end.

Rodriguez is an experienced coach, so I'm sure whatever he had to say to his team in the locker room stuck. When he coached for West Virginia, he was known for having "second half" teams toward the end of his tenure.

Largest crowd since 2011 FCS playoff semifinals tonight. Over capacity crowd of 14.5k. Great crowd in Huntsville tonight!

I haven't broken down the exact times, but it's probably safe to say, you outplayed us for 58 minutes on the game clock. At times it was like watching the SHSU teams of old, back when we used to play spring football down in the lower subdivision. Seems so long ago now...

Luckily, we upgraded our coaching staff since then. Rich Rod may have only gotten two good minutes out of these Gamecocks, but it was the two minutes that counted most.

You guys will be OK. I still think you finish in the middle of the pack this season. And next season? You may have me a little nervous.

Fan base is just frustrated at this point. To be in a position to have winnable games and fall short consistently. Especially to do it in front of the largest home crowd in over a decade. We’ll catch a win one of these weeks but it’s likely not going to be against a very good Liberty team next week. Have to be patient. Lots of conference games left….

Wow that must have been some finish. I know it’s tough to swallow these kinds of losses as a fan but Sam will get there. You have a tradition of winning. It won’t take long before you are competing.

Wasn’t KC against the move to FBS?
