The outcome of this game will define the season for each team. I think both teams realize that and will give us some good football.

For Troy, the team is still trying to find an identity. Troy wants to make it back to the SBC championship game (duh). To do this, Troy needs to wash the JMU stink off. A win over an undefeated GSU team would give Troy the confidence to continue hunting down the SBC title.

For GSU, Oh man! A win over Troy will in my opinion, guarantee being ranked. It would also make a statement that they are in charge of the East. The Troy game starts a tough gauntlet that could lead to GSU being in a NY6 bowl or not to jinx it, a playoff spot. The remaining schedule is good enough in my opinion.

I'm pumped up and I can't wait!

Beating Troy won’t get GSU ranked. They MIGHT start getting votes (maybe) but it would be late in the season, 9+ wins in before getting into the top 25 happens. They’ve never been close to being ranked before, it would take some time.

Coaches' Poll doesn't mean much, but it's nice to be recognized.

GSU opens as a 3 point favorite.

Ironically, if you go to the USA Today page for the rankings, in the list of voters there is Shawn Elliot...of Georgia Southern.

If Troy plays clean, they should win this one. Will come down to who makes the least amount of mistakes, IMO.
