I think it sticks. The ACC appears very top heavy. Clemson will climb back up probably top 15 by the end of the season, SU is 4-0 and pretty good themselves. GT, Wake, NCSU are ok and likely get bowl eligibility.

Nope. Clemson will be 7-5 at best. Terrible team this year.

It's difficult to maintain an edge when you lose coaching continuity.

It's not so much continuity as it is hiring well. Saban has hired very well when he has replaced OCs and DCs. Swinney has not. He has hired guys who have never held a coaching position at the college or pro level. One exception has a meager 2 years at Georgia State. That's why Clemson stinks.

They're not up to Dabo standard. But 7-5? In this conference?
You have good enough OL/DL to just fall forward against every opponent every down and still be 7-5. There is *ZERO* chance of Clemson finishing 7-5.

I'm not sold on Syracuse yet. They're improved, but they're still clearly flawed in the times I've watched them.
Tier List:
NC Contender: Florida State
Top 25: Miami, North Carolina, Clemson
So-so Bowl Team: Wake Forest, Georgia Tech
More bad than good: Boston College, Pitt, NC State
Garbage: Virginia, Virginia Tech
Jury still out: Louisville, Syracuse, Duke. They could all be mediocre or they could all be Top 25.

In the case of Duke, it doesn't matter at this point - they've already beaten Clemson.
Besides @Syracuse this week, Clemson has @Miami, Notre Dame, and UNC. I can see where he gets 7-5 (3 more losses).

Virginia Tech has a similar problem - assistants who just can't teach football!

I'm counting ND, USC, UNC, and Miami as losses. That's 6-6.

Sounds like the initial problem was Beamer and/or his followers hovering over the program with their own thoughts and agenda. Aka the Barry Alvarez problem. You're still kicking around loose change and cleaning up ever since. Step one is to get a new AD, and don't let the current one hire anybody important.

RE: ACC has 5 schools in top 25
Clemson is still a top 25 team. They aren't ranked that way, but just because they pissed away what should have been a relatively easy win over 4th ranked FSU they are kicked out. Duke was good last year. They are good this year. They are also smart enough to stay in games where their talent is not equal. Clemson did not come ready to play and got beat by what is a top 25 team this year after they panicked.
I don't like the dog pile on Dabo but before the portal and before the assistants was the decision to put a West Coast guy in as Clemson's QB. Uglyugly was never a fit.

The problems first popped up with all the pot heads in the early 2010's. They went through a spate of players that could not stop smoking weed like some new fungus was going to kill it all. They were getting arrested on Main Street for it. I really think you are seeing a growing social mismatch between the fan's, the students, and the players needed to win.

IF Syracuse wins the CFP national championship THIS year, more like...
P.S. If you think that explosion begins too far South to be Syracuse, NY, you're 100% correct. It's not NY at all, it's Tallahassee, FL!

SU looks like a solid team, so beating FSU in Tallahassee this year is not inconceivable.

I wasn't even thinking about the head-to-head match up... I was thinking this is supposed to be the Seminoles year and how 100,000 FSU fans' heads would simultaneously explode if Syracuse "stole your lunch money"!
